Band Saw Operator – 2nd & 3rd Shift

Pay Rates

Training Requirement: Candidates must be available to train on 1st Shift (Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM).

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Band Saw Operator to join our machine shop team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately cutting metal stock and raw materials to size using horizontal and/or vertical band saws. This role is essential to supporting machining and fabrication operations by ensuring precise material preparation in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate band saws to cut metal materials, including steel, aluminum, and other alloys.
  • Read and interpret job travelers, blueprints, cut lists, and mechanical drawings to determine cutting requirements.
  • Measure and mark materials using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision tools.
  • Select the proper blades based on material type and thickness.
  • Monitor saw performance and adjust feed rates, blade tension, and cutting angles as needed.
  • Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance, including blade changes, lubrication, and cleaning.
  • Verify that cut parts meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
  • Identify and report material defects, safety concerns, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain an organized work area and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials and moving stock throughout the shop as needed

 

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school or vocational training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating band saws or similar cutting equipment in a machine shop environment.
  • Familiarity with common metals and alloys used in machining and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting across offices, restrooms, and common areas
  • Sanitize and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and restroom fixtures
  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with sanitation guidelines
  • Restock cleaning and hygiene supplies such as paper products, soap, and sanitizers
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (e.g., floor buffers, carpet extractors, pressure washers) and store properly after use
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure all areas meet cleanliness and safety standards
  • Report maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly to supervisors
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and adherence to MSDS guidelines

  • Operate glue and ink systems as needed.
