A facility in Union City, MI is looking for an equipment operator for either 1st or 2nd shift. This position is a 90 day hire-in opportunity. 

Mornings and days, Monday – Friday, 5:00am – 3:30pm and 3:00pm – 1:30am. 

Pay: $15.00-18.00 per hour

Operates mobile equipment such as lift trucks, cranes, track mobiles and/or yard vehicles in order to move materials and products between work stations and/or receiving and storage locations. Ensures proper identification of parts and materials. At senior level operates switch engine and coordinates activities of switch-engine crew within the plant yard. Moves incoming or finished cars to and from storage, production line, repair line, etc. Maintains safety of crew and rail cars. Follows all safety rules and practices. May be involved in safety committees or initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities: The Material Handler primary job functions are to correctly retrieve and stage materials for flavor production and to assist with receiving duties as needed. This includes:

• Scanning required materials accurately to productions carts
• Ensuring that containers are refilled as necessary and that enough material is staged for the specific MO
• Timely and accurate put-away of raw materials returned from production
• Proper handling of allergens according to GMPs, HACCP, and Allergen Control programs
• Ensuring that all returned material containers returned from Manufacturing are clean and functioning correctly.
• Receiving all incoming goods via truck, messenger and UPS through a verification process to ensure proper product identity and lot numbers.
• Create and document an incoming log for every item received.
• Enter proper receiving information into the computer and ensure proper labeling of the product.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse.
• Will perform other duties as assigned, including loading and unloading trucks as necessary and performing inventory cycle counts. Reliable, predictable attendance is required. To ensure product safety and quality, Material Handlers are responsible for controlling physical contaminants, properly storing personal items, and reporting suspicious people or activities to their supervisor.
• Must also be clean-shaven, due to the requirement to occasionally wear a respirator.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED completion
• Experience driving sit-down and stand-up reach forklifts, certification is preferred
• Experience using a scan gun and an Inventory Management System

• Crushes cans and drums in drum crusher
• Punctures aerosol cans.
• Picks-up, boxes, and stores used light bulbs
• Runs daily route to pick up full drums waste containers and/or empty raw material drums for storage and disposal
• Weighs waste containers before putting into storage
• Assists in loading waste containers for shipment
• Follows safety guidelines and procedures
• Follows non-hazardous solid waste (NHSW) procedures
• Participates in team meetings and trainings
• Cleans work area according to 5s standards
• Collects and transports NHSW carts from designated areas and dumps in compactor
• Document carts pulled on production sheet
• Assists in other areas as time permits

• HS Diploma/GED required
• 1+ Years Experience in Tugger/Forklift Preferred
