Duties of a Quality Specialist:

  • Ensure that all concerns relating to customers, both external and internal, and suppliers, are effectively contained and permanent corrective action is put in place to prevent any reoccurrence.
  • Facilitate training related to quality and develop training material as required.
  • Deal with customer rejects and problems and takes necessary steps to rectify concerns. Investigate substandard results and conduct research on product defects in order to make recommendations on changes in materials or processes.
  • Deal with customers and engineering on advanced quality issues and programs and provide direction where required.
  • Conduct investigations on non-conformances and recommend corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Attend meetings as per customer request and translate requirements into plant systems and procedures.
  • Analyze SPC data and assist in improving manufacturing process capability.
  • Review all Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD &T), Significant Characteristics (SC), and Key Product Characteristics (KPC) with customers on new programs to address any all quality issues.
  • Co-ordinate and prepare sample submission packages (PPAP) to include all pertinent documents per customers’ requirements. Prepare Failure Mode Effect Analyses (FMEA), Process Flow Diagrams and Process Control Plans for assigned programs and revise the document when change is required.
  • Review fixture designs to ensure that parts are properly located in accordance with the GD & T and that the fixtures pass required variable data and attribute checks in accordance with customer expectations.
  • Perform dimensional checks, capability studies, Gauge R&R studies, and audits as needed to support customer concerns, APQP and PPAP requirements.
  • Review and analyze CMM layout report and recommend changes as required for a successful PPAP submission
  • Co-ordinate process capability studies to verify the capability of a product/process at launch.
  • Conduct training on new programs, and provide required training materials, i.e. quality guides, control plans, etc.
  • Assist with the design of experiments and DVP&R when required.
  • Review and approve supplier PPAP Packages and follows up for re-submission as required.
  • Monitor supplier’s performance and develops new suppliers, assist with supplier’s improvement plans to ensure that corrections are being implemented within specified time frame.
  • Supervise Corporate Testing Laboratory and all related activities.
  • Develop and achieve high quality customer service at customer shipping locations, responsible for new product launch and customer assembly plant liaison.
  • Plan and perform internal audit in all company Automotive facilities.
  • Responsible for warranty returns and high mileage vehicle review reporting, analysis and follow-up
  • Any other reasonable request made by management.
  • Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.
  • Ensures he/she is in full compliance with U.S. and/or state laws, while representing KIRCHHOFF Automotive Lansing or during the use of any Company Automotive Lansing provided equipment.
  • Work towards understanding and implementing a passing BIQS strategy for company.
  • Maintain IATF16949 complaisance. Work with Registrar to pass future audits.
  • Maintain Quality department metrics and reporting processes on a daily basis.
  • Lead the Layered Process Audit program for the entire plant. Report monthly to senior management team deficiencies in the process.
  • Understand and lead the repair / rework process from the Quality department. Drive to closure and obtain completed documentation for recording keeping.
  • Maintain and updated gauge instructions.
  • Extensive knowledge of Corrective Action (5 why) process and proper Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Utilize local software program to maintain full plant wide document and data control

Job Requirements:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Quality environment in manufacturing/automotive industry
  • College degree specializing in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Understanding of Quality System, PPAP, APQP requirements
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), Significant Characteristics (SC), customer
  • specific requirements and various test methods.
  • Certified Quality Engineer CQE body of knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Effective problem-solving skills (8D) and decision-making skills
  • Ability to read blueprint drawings
  • Computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, GroupWise
  • Ability to conduct effective training sessions

Pay: $21 per hour + $0.50 per hour after 90 days

 

The Quality Inspector will perform inspection verification and monitors processes associated with the Operations activity. They will support activities in the hold area and acts as the Quality Liaison to the plant floor personnel. They will also participate in Continuous Improvement activities to support company objectives.

Roles and responsibilities

• Conducts all elements under the Quality Inspector section of the Start Up procedure and verification of entire First Shot Approval requirement as well as Last Shot requirement.

• Verifies Plastic Technicians are effectively conducting part inspections to the Operator Instruction Sheets.

• Conducts lab testing that is required per the Operator Instruction Sheet (such as micrometers, gauges, etc)

• Creates Internal Quality Alert on the plant floor for reported part quality issues.

• Document inspection results and comments related to part quality issue in system and other forms of reporting accordingly.

• Puts suspect product on hold, verifies inspection is conducted per requirements and releases from hold when verification is complete.

• Ensures Plastic Technician follows quality directives (OIS, Quality Alert, system entries, etc.).

• Provide knowledge of process and product quality to plastic technician.

• Perform daily audit of Process Technician with effective part inspection, gage use, reporting tools and systems.

• Perform containment activities and laboratory testing as required, using the provided testing equipment.

 

• Perform internal audit according to schedule.

• Maintains documented inspection and test results in electronic archive.

• Maintains internal concern log for areas of responsibility.

• Maintains the order of gage storage and First Shot/Last Shot bins.

• Maintains reliability of “rabbit” master samples for poke-yoke.

• Communicate quality issues (and other quality related items) on shift communication meetings.

• Performs any other Quality related function or duty as requested.

• Assists in disposition of product on hold and assist the Quality Engineer and Coordinator as required.

• Assists the Quality Engineer & Operation Team with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action process.

• Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager and Quality Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Responsibilities:

– Perform quality cleanliness testing and report

– Perform part sectioning microscope work and report

– Perform tensile testing of assembled components

– Coordinate and maintain internal gauge calibration

– Inspect and approve first piece setup parts for end forming operations

– Perform final audit inspection on completed prototype and production product prior to shipment

– Inspect prototype components and new production components from suppliers

– Complete final inspection of tube contour gauges, review reports, and photograph gauges

– Complete prototype documentation to the customer including scanning in component documents, material certifications, and documenting inspection results

– Complete and update processing documentation including job travelers and in-process inspection sheets for new and current production parts.

– Review processing documentation, update scrap logs, and filing quality documents

– Create production process work instructions for employees

– Provide annual PPAP submissions to the customer

Job Summary:

ResourceMFG is seeking an QC Inspector for our NW Houston client (area:  Hwy 290 & Pinemont)

Temp to hire       Day Shift: 6:00 AM  – 2:30PM 

Pay: $22 – $26 an hour, depending on experience and skills

  • Examine production documents to ensure that all assembly, inspecting, and testing steps were performed according to specifications.
  • Examine all finished parts and verify accuracy to specifications outlined on engineering drawings and/or other engineering documents
  • Perform material hardness testing
  • Cross-train peers when necessary.
  • Prepare required shipping documentation and certification papers for international shipments of packers, tools and parts.
  • Process documentation by filing in appropriate filing area.
  • Conducting in-line quality audits of the manufacturing process at different stages to achieve optimum quality within the limits of equipment capability.
  • Maintain working knowledge of QMS documentation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
