The Human Resources Assistant will provide administrative support in the functional areas of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, personnel records, employee relations, benefits administration, organizational development and training.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the first point of contact regarding all HR related inquires and requests, both internal and external.
  • Responsible for the record keeping of personnel related data (personal employee information, employment changes, I9’s, leaves, etc.) in both paper and electronic formats and ensure that such records are maintained in accordance with all applicable laws and Company policies/procedures.
  • Generate and submit reports on HR activities such as turnover, cost per hire, benefits participation, etc.
  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, and retention of employees in accordance with the Company’s hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements.
  • Participate in the performance management process.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and communicate with EDD as appropriate.
  • Prepare departmental and companywide communications such as announcements, emails, and other correspondence.
  • Fulfill requests for subpoenas, VOE’s, and other HR related documents.
  • Maintain the HR calendar and schedule HR related meetings and activities.
  • Lead various initiatives and activities to cultivate and maintain a positive, productive, and inclusive company culture and employee morale.
  • Attend webinars, meetings, events, and training seminars to keep abreast of the latest HR developments
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements:

  • Fluent Spanish - Required
  • 1+ year of HR and/or recruiting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of discretion, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a professional, tactful, and sensitive manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and self-manage and work well as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS/ATS; specific knowledge of ADP WFN is a plus!
  • Proficient with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

Job Location: Houston, 77043

Schedule: 6AM-4PM Monday-Friday (Weekends IF needed)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement detailed, task level, day to day EH&S (primarily safety and industrial hygiene) programs, utilizing Corteva EH&S work processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensures that the safety and industrial hygiene aspects of the site’s Operating Discipline are adequate and applied to achieve safety performance goals.
  • May be the first point of contact for safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental issues.
  • Coaches individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities compared against the Corteva safety standards, and site safety rules.
  • Assists in developing and achieving department and site EH&S goals.
  • As required, participates in the safety related reviews of projects, including management of change (MOC) reviews.
  • As required, conducts and documents investigations of incidents and ensures follow up actions to prevent re-occurrences are completed.
  • Perform audits and self assessments on EH&S standards and programs, including safe work permit reviews, isolation of energy reviews, elevated work reviews, etc.
  • Participate in Corteva Corporate EH&S Integrated Audits.
  • Create and communicate Safety LERs to the site.
  • Attend contractor safety tailgate meetings during projects.
  • Complete special projects to help improve plant EH&S performance.
  • Conduct site EH&S orientation.
  • Provide site specific safety training as directed by EH&S department.

 

Daily Expectations:

  • Attend department morning meeting.
  • Conduct safety walks of process areas and active jobs ensuring that safety standards and safe work practices are being followed through observation and interaction.  Assist Operations and Maintenance with correcting any issues that are identified during the safety walk. This activity should be at least 50% of the Safety Tech’s time.
  • Review active Core Permits

Monthly Expectations:

  • Audit completed Core Permits.
  • Verify isolation procedures as current.
  • Conduct Self Assessments as required by the Corteva standards.
  • Complete assigned training, document reviews, and compliance tasks.
  • Participate in department safety meetings.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and presentation) skills. 
  • Working knowledge of all EH&S/Safety work process and tools, working knowledge of plant operations and processes related to EH&S.
  • Must be able to apply Corteva EH&S Standards and Policies.
  • Can determine applicability of EH&S tasks and activities as related to standards/requirements.

  • Put all the large mechanical components of a Generator in proper place. Mount Genset on its skid using correct hardware and meeting torque requirements Mount all stands to skid (ECC, GBC, SCR, disconnect) and setting said components in place.
  • Connect exhaust parts and install them using correct hardware, gaskets and meeting all torque requirements. Make load cables using correct gauge cable, lug, and proper crimp Make CAN harnesses, fuel line and block heater hose Read/ understand electrical drawing of both house power and communication wiring, properly landing/ labeling wiring in both TCC/ECC and house power panel Install all phases of load cables, bend install conduit and assemble def pumps, solenoids, and complex def systems. 
  • An Assembly tech 2 will be responsible for mounting Genset on its skid using correct hardware and meeting torque requirements, mounting all stands to skid ( ECC, GBC, SCR,disconnect) and setting said components in place also connecting exhaust parts and installing using correct hardware, gaskets and meeting all torque requirements.
