Responsibilities

Responsible for performing inspections on packaged materials, and finished goods per approved methods, procedures and specifications. Incoming packaging inspectors’ interface with purchasing and packaging engineer and in some cases customers and vendors to resolve quality issues with incoming packaging.
Finished goods inspectors interact with all levels of production management in assuring that finished goods meet required quality standards.
Duties

• Inspect and ensure line readiness for setup. Follow through on start-up and lab approval
• Document line inspections; provide dispositions on results of inspections.
• Accurately complete all Quality Assurance forms.
• Issue QMR’s (Questionable Materials Report) as required.
• Inspect packaging and/or finished products quality to meet specifications.
• Visually inspect components to meet work order specifications.
• Check weights and torques to meet range specifications.
• Collect and distribute microbiological samples. Collect line samples for testing and customer submission (line inspectors only)
• Submit samples from packaging inspections as required for development of masters, resolution of quality holds (incoming packaging inspectors only)
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 1 year QA experience highly preferred.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineering Tech Specialist works under minimal supervision to provide technical support to operations on a variety of tasks including product problems, machine down time recover, fixture design, and quality evaluations. The technician would be the first line of defense in helping to resolve safety concerns, troubleshooting quality issues, and improving production efficiency. Additionally, may include review of workflows, routings, floor layouts, material handling, ERP issues, or machine utilization. Work may include repairing, maintenance, or design of production testers and fixtures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides support to production and manufacturing engineers on a variety of tasks.
2. Performs troubleshooting and continuous improvement involving designing, repairing, modification, and testing of mechanical, electronic, or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, and production equipment.
3. Assists in analyzing, planning and execution experiments and gathers, maintains, formats, and compiles technical data.
4. Aids in the analysis, planning, and implementation of manufacturing engineering process changes or engineering design changes to support plant operations.
5. Proficient in reading and understanding engineering drawings and assembly instructions.
6. Maintains and develops work instructions and process controls to ensure equipment is performing to design specifications.
7. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
8. ERP knowledge should include Method of Manufacturing , Bill of Material, BAQ, Job management, and Inventory Management.
9. Reviews ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) and update jobs and material usage as required.
10. Supports technical support representatives by providing cost estimates and master routers for new items.
11. Works with department managers to keep ISO procedures current.  Follow up on internal audit schedules and results.  Maintains all documents related to ISO 9001:2015. 
12. Conduct time studies to validate product labor costs.

Work hands-on with assemblers, and engineers to streamline builds and solve problems real-time.

Technical Competencies:

• AA/AS degree or equivalent education preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience as a manufacturing engineering technician.
• Proficient in Solidworks and Autocad
• Proficient with ERP/MES systems.
• Some travel may be required both by automobile and airplane.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and independently.
• Knowledge of SQL, VBA, Arena programming is a plus.
