Job Responsibilities
- Performs basic shaping process steps on medium difficult parts.
- Beveling – capable of fabricating polished, double, and off-angle asymmetric bevels
- Blocking – pitch button, Norland transfer, steep singles, cold blocking, contacting, and alignment
- Grinding – Steep radius, cylinder, tight wedge, continuous
- Polishing – spindle, CP, double side, CNC polish
- Slurry Maintenance - maintains and measures established Baume and PH levels
- Pour pitch lap, cuts, and grooves lap
- Advanced print reading skills – can read and comprehend all fabrication specs
- Measurement skills include - Basic Zygo, understanding of fringe pattern, microscope, stereoscope, surface quality inspection, fiber light
- Performs other duties as assigned

Position Overview
As a Coating Technician, you’ll keep optical components moving through the production process—from cleaning operations to coating chamber operations. You’ll also perform cleaning and inspection of substrates and coated components to ensure top-quality results. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where precision and attention to detail are key.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and clean optical components for coating
- Operate coating chambers and related equipment
- Inspect substrates and coated components for quality
- Maintain workflow between cleaning and coating operations
- Follow safety and quality standards in a manufacturing setting
What We’re Looking For
- Manufacturing or coating experience required
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work weekend/night shifts and train on day shift

- Provide support for First Article Inspections and Revision verification's.
- Help generate and Implement Quality plans.
- Provide SPC support as needed to satisfy the requirements of our customers.
- Verify the cosmetic quality of production parts, both in the Molding Department and the Finishing Department.
- Verify the conformance of dimensional requirements of production parts, both in the Molding Department and the Finishing Department.
- Provide Quality Assurance support during Qualified Start-up procedures.
- Generate documentation and provide technical support for non-conformances.
- Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
