The Maintenance Mechanic troubleshoots, repairs and maintains the plant’s production and facilities
equipment mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems. The Maintenance Mechanic is
responsible for safely working while following electrical code, equipment manuals, schematic diagrams,
blueprints and other specifications as required. They use hand tools, power tools, and electrical and
electronic test equipment to complete daily tasks. Supports Continuous Improvement activities to aid in
increasing the plants efficiency.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:
1. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance machine servicing emergency and unscheduled repairs of production
equipment during production.
2. Uses trade knowledge and skillset to troubleshoot equipment and facility based maintenance issues using a range
of skills including but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic. Recognize mechanical
defects in equipment using touch, sight and sound and repair equipment in accordance with established GMP and
safety procedures, and conforming to requirements of local building and safety codes.
3. Competently utilize standard mechanics tools. Proficiently use calipers, feeler gauges and micrometers.
4. Provides quality customer service to external and internal customers while using a personable customer service
attitude.
5. Maintains radio contact with planner scheduler, supervisor and maintenance department personnel using supplied
radios. Answers radio calls as required. Maintains radio etiquette at all times.
6. Is proactive in walking the facility and evaluating equipment health on a daily basis. Reports any problems found
that need corrective action taken, and ensures a work order is raised to repair as required.
7. Safely operates shop tools and equipment as required to make repairs and/or fabricate simple parts.
8. Receives work orders from the Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.
9. Evaluates the job requested on the work order.

Seasonal part-time role available for Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays only. We offer flexible schedules! Potential for full-time post-season based on performance. Shifts: 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

We’re offering a seasonal part-time position that operates only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays. You have the flexibility to choose to work on any or all of these three days!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tear down, use chemicals to clean and sanitize, and reassemble equipment, including but not limited to food processing equipment (industrial pumps, automated filling equipment, etc), process piping, floors, and walls

Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager, the QA Technician acts as a liaison between departments such as manufacturing, engineering, etc.  The individual must have a quality conscious attitude with emphasis towards a teamwork approach to a accomplish project goals and implement solutions to problems.  The individual will work independently, be able to multitask, detail oriented, and have good decision making skills based on the quality process from the beginning of manufacturing to the end.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Advises the QA Management and site management of the issues in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates incoming ingredients, work in process products, and finished goods.
  • Performs flour testing, sifting, and shelf life testing.
  • Tests samples for pH, TTA, moisture %, and color
  • Places items on hold that does not meet the specification such as incoming material, work in process, and/or finished goods.  Presents reasons for retention and recommends possible solution to the issue.
  • Inspects and calibrates equipment used in the lab.  Reports non-compliance findings and recommends next step solutions to the QA Management in a timely manner.
  • Complies with and enforces GLPs (Good Laboratory Practices), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), and other employee safety and food safety and quality programs throughout the manufacturing site.
  • Validate the metal detector SOP is being practice
  • Ability to review, interpret, verify, and summarize data collected from other departments.  Reports any deficiencies to QA Management in a timely manner.
  • Collect and analyze samples accordingly to Quality Assurance Procedures at specified frequency, ensuring results are within specified ranges and completed/recorded in a timely manner. 
  • Assure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout all operations and processes.
  • Actively participate to assure cross-functional issues are resolved and site concerns are addressed.
  • Organizes and files processing records.
  • Prepares samples for outside laboratory testing, evaluates, and interpret results to give to recommendations.
  • Assists QA Technologist and/or QA Supervisor on various projects.
  • Responsible for CCP verifications
  • Responsible for Quality and Food Safety functions as assigned and outlined in Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program.
  • Responsible for reporting all quality and food safety concerns/issues to QA.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years of QA/QC experience
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to take on projects with minimum supervision, complete tasks in a proficient manner, and work as a team
  • Experience in testing and evaluation of finished products
  • Able to multi-task, and have a strong work ethic and detail orientation
  • Ability to conduct evaluation and testing of inbound ingredients

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs analyses and tests of raw materials, and/or finished products from manufacturing, to ensure quality standards and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements are met, and products meet tolerance specifications

• Performs a variety of qualitative and quantitative tests on products

• Help maintain and certify test instruments and apparatus to ensure compliance

• Prepares and monitors quality statistics and reports

• Reviews production records for conformance to procedures

• Conducts non-conformance tests of manufactured, or tested products

• Produce data and reports  to ensure that customer quality requirements are met

• Supports preparation of first article and production acceptance test procedures to efficiently ensure compliance to contractual requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum AA degree (or equivalent) is required

• Experience in production environments is highly desired

• Hands-on experience with microscopes and test metrology

• Prior experience and/or familiarity with the use of Standard Measuring Equipment. (micrometers, verniers, height gauges, etc.)

• Prior experience and/or familiarity performing optical inspection

• Prior experience and/or familiarity reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, and/or specs

• Must be hands-on, organized, proactive and possess a committed work ethic

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
