Manual Machinist II

Location: Houston, TX

We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist II with strong hands-on experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, and drilling equipment. This role focuses on precision machining, repair work, custom fabrication, and component modification in a job shop or industrial environment.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate manual machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
• Perform turning, milling, boring, drilling, threading, and grinding to close tolerances.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and GD&T requirements.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and machining methods for custom and repair work.
• Calculate speeds, feeds, depths of cut, and setup parameters.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.
• Repair, modify, and fabricate mechanical components.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of manual machining experience.
• Strong proficiency with manual lathes and milling machines.
• Ability to hold tight tolerances and perform precision inspections.
• Experience with custom fabrication, repair machining, and blueprint reading.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• CNC setup or operation experience is a plus but not required.

Preferred:

• Experience repairing gearboxes, pumps, motors, or rotating equipment.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
