Belt Grinding Machine Operator Helper – 3rd Shift
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Shift: 3rd Shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
Training Schedule: Must be available to train on 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Overtime: Saturday overtime available
Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Belt Grinding Machine Operator Helper to support the operation of belt grinding equipment used for surface finishing, deburring, and material preparation. This position works closely with the primary machine operator to ensure efficient production, quality standards, and workplace safety. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to learn manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Support
- Assist with the setup and preparation of belt grinding machines, including changing belts, adjusting tracking, and preparing fixtures.
- Load and unload parts onto grinding machines and worktables.
- Monitor grinding operations for defects, overheating, or improper belt performance.
- Support the machine operator in making adjustments to pressure, angle, and feed rates as needed.
- Assist in maintaining production flow and meeting daily output goals.
Material Handling & Quality
- Transport materials and finished products to designated areas.
- Perform visual inspections on parts to ensure quality standards are met.
- Identify surface imperfections and communicate issues to the operator or supervisor.
- Help separate, organize, and package completed parts.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Properly dispose of scrap materials and used grinding belts.
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or production problems immediately.
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing, machine operation, or metal finishing experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn machine operations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable attendance and dependability are required.
- Must be available to train on 1st Shift before transitioning to 3rd Shift.
