Description
Position Summary
The Solderer is responsible for performing hand soldering, assembly, rework, and inspection of electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and cable assemblies in accordance with IPC J-STD-001 standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and experience working in a manufacturing or electronics production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform hand soldering of through-hole and surface-mount components on PCBs.
- Ensure all soldering work complies with IPC J-STD-001 requirements and customer quality standards.
- Inspect solder joints and assemblies for quality, workmanship, and conformance to specifications.
- Perform component replacement, rework, and touch-up of electronic assemblies.
- Use soldering irons, hot air rework stations, microscopes, and other assembly tools safely and effectively.
- Adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures and cleanroom requirements when applicable.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Work closely with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve assembly issues.
Required Qualifications
- Current IPC J-STD-001 Certification (Certified IPC Specialist preferred).
- Minimum 1-3 years of electronics soldering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole soldering.
