Powder Coating Technician
Location: Durham, NC
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: Starting at $19.00/hour+, based on experience
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Powder Coating Technician to join our team in Durham, NC. This position is responsible for preparing, coating, inspecting, and finishing metal parts using liquid and powder coating processes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large steel and aluminum parts, powder coating equipment, and wastewater handling processes.
Responsibilities
- Hand spray parts and products using liquid or powder coating systems
- Clean, degrease, and mask metal parts prior to coating application
- Select the appropriate powder coating color and coating type based on project specifications
- Operate powder coating spray guns to apply coatings evenly and efficiently
- Inspect coated parts for defects, proper coverage, and coating thickness
- Load and unload parts from curing ovens to ensure proper curing and finish quality
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of powder coating equipment
- Handle and monitor wastewater processes in accordance with company procedures
- Work safely with large steel and aluminum components
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow all quality standards and safety regulations

Qualifications
- Previous powder coating or industrial painting experience preferred
- Experience hand spraying liquid or powder coatings
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques including cleaning, degreasing, and masking
- Experience working with large steel and aluminum parts
- Experience handling wastewater in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to identify coating defects and perform quality inspections
- Ability to lift, move, and handle large parts as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
