Tool & Die / Maintenance Technician
Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Schedule: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die / Maintenance Technician to support manufacturing operations by fabricating, repairing, and maintaining dies, fixtures, and specialized equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work from both simple and complex designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, and written descriptions to visualize and create products
- Develop detailed specifications and produce drawings or sketches from general descriptions
- Compute dimensions and plan layouts and assembly operations
- Use precision measuring equipment to ensure components meet tolerance requirements
- Inspect, modify, and build tools, dies, and equipment repair parts as needed
- Repair, replace, adjust, and align machinery and equipment components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, lifts, and hoists
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders
- Test machines following repairs to ensure proper functionality
- Perform a wide range of duties to fabricate, repair, and maintain dies, fixtures, and specialized tooling
- Work from basic drawings to complex designs, recommending improvements when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and procedures
- Follow all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and hazardous material handling procedures

- Four years’ experience as a Tool Room Machinist or a Journeyman
- Mathematical aptitude and strong math skills including geometry, algebra, and trigonometry
- Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of machines, tools, screws, threads, and tapers, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Production and processing aptitude including knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, complicated drawings, and specifications
- Critical thinking skills in order to detect issues in the creation process and find solutions to ensure the machinery creates the product provided in the draft
- Familiarity with working properties of metals, alloys, and tool steels and demonstrated ability to fabricate sheet metal, migweld, and braze
- Capable of designing jigs, form tools, and small fixtures
- Capable of holding precise dimensions with a close tolerance
- Capable of indicating in spindle heads, and aligning components
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable; able to work independently within a team focused environment
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronically controlled equipment is a plus but not required
- Knowledge of CNC programming is a plus but not required
- Tig welding and welding cast-iron is a plus but not required
