The Welder/Fitter uses appropriate tools and equipment for MIG, TIG and Arc welding

Essential Functions

• Read blueprints and use necessary measuring devices
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Supports all quality systems requirements

Minimum Experience and Education Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience as welder
• Professional certification would be a plus Other Requirements Technical Capabilities
• Ability to solve complex problems
• Deftness and attention to detail
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Desired Training (before or after hire) Training is forklift, overhead crane, PPE, machine guard, aerial lift, and lockout/tagout
• Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressures in an interruptive environment
