Job Title: CNC Lathe Operator

Location: Fraser, MI

Shift: 3:00pm-11:00pm

Pay: $20+ based on experience

 

The CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC turning machines to manufacture parts that meet exact specifications. This role requires hands-on experience with CNC lathes, strong blueprint reading skills, and a commitment to precision and efficiency.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precision components.

  • Load raw materials and set tooling in accordance with setup sheets and engineering drawings.

  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine machine setup and operations.

  • Monitor machining operations to detect issues with tooling, materials, or machine performance.

  • Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality and dimensional standards.

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure proper machine calibration.

  • Make program edits as needed to ensure optimal performance and part accuracy.

  • Maintain production records and complete quality documentation.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve processes and throughput.

  • Comply with all safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3+ years of experience operating and setting up CNC lathes.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and GD&T.

  • Strong understanding of CNC programming fundamentals (G-code, M-code).

  • Familiarity with Fanuc or similar CNC controls.

  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators).

  • Excellent attention to detail and quality.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

The CNC Mill Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented team player with strong technical skills and a dedication to maintaining high quality standards.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Set up CNC milling machines, including tool selection, workpiece loading, and fixture installation.

  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine machining operations.

  • Operate CNC mills to perform tasks such as drilling, boring, and contouring metal and plastic workpieces.

  • Adjust machine controls and change tool settings to keep dimensions within specifications.

  • Perform first-part inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).

  • Maintain clean and safe working environment by complying with safety procedures and regulations.

  • Identify and troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions and notify maintenance as needed.

  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize machining processes.

  • Record production and inspection data accurately and timely.

 

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • 3+ years of experience operating and setting up CNC milling machines.

  • Strong knowledge of G-code and CNC program interpretation.

  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments and tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.

  • Solid understanding of machining practices, speeds, feeds, and tooling concepts.

  • Experience with Fanuc, Haas, or similar CNC controls a plus.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
