    • Use radio equipment for communication in a respectable manner.
    • Duties associated with housekeeping (throw away trash and sweep floors) and follow and maintain 5S standards.
    • Comply with OSHA standards and use safety equipment as required (eye and ear protection, back supports, and fall protection).
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    Job Description - The Machine Operator facilitates the production, inspection, packaging and machine operation in preparation for shipping and receiving demands to meet customer needs.  Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within established guidelines by performing the below duties within Quality standards.  Adheres to jobs as required by the procedures and work instructions contained in the Quality system to maintain AS9120 and ISO certifications.

    Functions - 

    • Facilitate all activities in receiving, order fulfillment, shipment and initial determination of product damages/returns.
    • Perform the cutting of alloys within the tolerance of .062” based on customer specifications for the use in the Aero Space industry.
    • Perform chamfering cut angle and depth of cut tolerances are met based on customer requirements.
    • Responsible for the accurate cut length, deflection, heat and ingot ID are applied on each piece of material cut for traceability through then entire production process.
    • Responsible to maintain the integrity of traceability for all cutting.
    • Ensures that all measuring equipment (Caliper, Tape Measure, Micrometer, Gauss Meters, and Scales) are accurately maintained to the required calibration standards and recorded as required per the quality standards.
    • Responsible to troubleshoot and repair equipment such as band saws, chamfering equipment, and circular saws.
    • Receive, comprehend and follow traveler instructions, procedures, drawings and/or verbal instructions.
    • Set-up and operate manufacturing equipment in a manner which meets quality and productivity standards.
    • Recognize variations from proper equipment/machine performance and seek corrective assistance when other than normal adjustments are required.
    • Assist the Machine Operator Lead (MOL) in developing new methods and techniques to improve process and quality of products.
    • Maintain accurate records and logs as required.
    • Perform routine maintenance of equipment, including preventative maintenance and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work area.
    • Assist the MOL in the training of other employees when required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications - 

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • 1+ years of production experience in a manufacturing environment required.
    •  Knowledge of various tools and equipment including but not limited to: manufacturing process equipment, personal protective equipment (e.g. safety shoes, eye protection, protective aprons, respirators, gloves, etc.), measurement tools (e.g. micrometers, weigh scales, etc.), hand tools (e.g. wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.) and test equipment (e.g. eddy current, volt meters, etc.).
    • Knowledge of various materials used to include but not limited to: various grades of titanium and other specialty alloys, drawing compounds and lubricants, solvents and process chemicals.
    • Ability to set-up and operate applicable machines, tools and equipment.
    • Intermediate understanding of computers and/or the willingness to learn is required.
    • PIT Certification preferred. (Side-loader experience preferred)
    • Must be professional, have good interpersonal skills, self-directed and motivated, readily assumes ownership of work assignments and drives toward completion.
    • Ability to read procedures and work instructions with understanding.
    • Must maintain a positive attitude, have a strong attention to detail, and be dependable (with no attendance issues).

    • Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance. Maintenance functions may include, but are not limited to, replenishing oil, general cleaning, pumps outs, minor repairs and alignment checks.
    • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
    • Sets up and changes cutting tools according to instructions, specifications, and process documents.
    • Studies blueprints, production schedule, and other specifications to ensure the proper sequence is followed.
    • Places and secures workpieces in proper machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface.
    • Prepares fixtures and operates machine center.
    • Observes each machine to verify quality performance.
    • Verifies measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers are in proper working order.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

     

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

    Role and Responsibilities

    The CNC Operator responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,

    • Plans machining by studying work orders, engineering drawings, materials, specifications and machining parameters.
    • Programs machining centers by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers and offsets.
    • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
    • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
    • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
    • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
    • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
    • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
    • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
    • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

     

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Prior CNC experience in a Production environment
    • Must have the skill to read prints, decipher tolerances, proven capability with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gages, vision systems, etc. 
    • Must be able to set up machine to produce parts to a part print and layout. This involves changing collets, cutting tools, and making adjustments on machine and tools.
    •  Must know G code and M code for the Spinner and Lathe machines.
    •  Must be able to perform basic math, geometry, and trigonometry, utilize hand tools, and have basic mechanical abilities.
    •  Must have positive attitude and ability to take complete ownership of area.
    •  A work history of compliance to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
    •  A work history that supports a good to excellent attendance record.
    •  Strong mechanical abilities
    •  Detail oriented approach to daily work activities
    •  Able to work well in a team oriented work environment.

    Preferred Skills

    • At least 2 years of CNC programming experience in a production environment
    • At least 3 years Manufacturing experience

      Die Maker B (Intermediate)
    •  Produce steel rule using the appropriate Auto Bender based on CAD files, work order instructions and   customer specifications
    •  Perform assigned maintenance on the Auto Bender as assigned.
    •  Layout carton designs on rotary die boards from customer drawings and blueprints according to work order   instructions.
    •  Manually saw rotary or flat die boards according to work order and machine specifications.
    •  Clean the saw room—clear away saw dust and scrap wood.
    •  Manufacture male and female stripper dies according to work order and customer specifications.
    •  Assemble male stripping die with plastic spacers and aluminum bars.
    •  Assemble female stripping die including routing and installing rails and rubber.
    •  Bolts rotary to ruling cylinder using air wrench or places flat board on ruling table.
    •  Selects proper size of rule to cut, perforate or score.
    •  Installs rule into die board until it contacts the metal cylinder or table.
    •  Solders and welds rule joints together when needed.
    •  Performs re-rules on dies sent back for repairs or revisions.


      Die Maker C (Beginner, Entry Level)
    •  Install rubber on rotary and flat cutting dies according to work order instructions.
    •  Select the appropriate glue to adhere the rubber to the die board.
    •  Select the appropriate rubber type, height and placement based on the work order.
    •  Strips and re-rubbers dies sent back for repairs or revisions.
    •  Run proofs of both rotary and flat cutting dies with appropriate material after die is rubbered.

    Primary Job Functions:

    •  Receive work order jackets for the Holland plant and receive orders for the other plants in Outlook. Review and prioritize   according to due date taking into account time needed in other areas for the job to be completed on time.
    •  Select the proper wood length and thickness based on customer specifications.
    •  Retrieve the appropriate file for the work order and review file for accuracy.
    •  Drill bolt holes in die board and bolt die board to the laser cylinder.
    •  Cut wooden die boards according to the work order using the appropriate laser.
    •  Measure laser burn in the die board using a taper gauge to ensure proper depth of burn within .001” tolerance.
    •  Record all time and materials used for each job in Cyframe.

    • Other Job Functions:
    •  Troubleshoot problems with the laser based on sight and hearing.
    •  Change gas cylinders used in the laser process: carbon dioxide, helium and nitrogen.
    •  Assist with maintenance on machinery as needed. Performs all job duties safely and in accordance with the company   quality guidelines.
    •  Performs general housekeeping to keep area clean.
