Job Responsibilities

  • PrintDispatch List and determine which product takes priority based on the defined production guidelines
  • Obtain appropriate paperwork and necessary drawings for each job assignment and verify the paperwork has the correct effective date
  • Obtain and verify parts and materials from kits for current job assignment
  • Hand solder electronic components on boards per documented instructions and schematic drawings, inspects solder connections and clips excess leads as needed
  • Perform solder potting activities and dispose of contaminated materials per procedure and documented instructions
  • Route completed boards to the next facility for operation per manufacturing order
  • Perform wire add operations when required
  • Scan completed boards into PFS system
  • Perform “Report Operations Complete” Transactions in automated computer system
  • Use manufacturing routings and process instructions under minimal supervision
  • Perform record keeping and complete paperwork associated with job assignments
  • Maintain a clean work area and follow all safety and ESD practices
  • Perform data entry for labor and work in progress (WIP) tracking
  • Report daily throughput quantities to the Team Leader
  • All employees are responsible for the Quality of their work to ensure BEI meets, or exceeds Customer Satisfaction.

  • High School Diploma, GED preferred
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to successfully complete General Production Procedures Training
  • Ability to successfully complete hand solder Certification requirements
  • Ability to read and understand schematic drawings, process and manufacturing instructions
  • Demonstrate strong component recognition skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Weekly Pay

Inspect and repair defects in a wax pattern that has been injected. Use hot irons, water welding torches and hot melted seal/patch wax to repair any defects and to attach wax patterns onto a sprue (also injected). Using hot melted glue, known as “Stik-Tite” and other wax injected components, complete a build/assembly of a mold that will go through the casting process and later become an investment casting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Following the part specific TechCard (work instructions), all injected patterns must be inspected for defects. If defects are found, they are to be repaired using hot, melted patch wax, rubbed with mineral spirits or similar and a “Scotch-Brite” pad.
  • Use dental style tools, small hobby paint brushes, hot irons & water welder torches with an open flame and hot melted glue/wax to assemble wax patterns to an injected sprue to create a mold. Assembly instructions are also found on the Technical Card.
  • Requires the delicate use of hands when working with fragile wax patterns and assemblies. Seals and wax welding of joints are to be done cleanly without drips, holes, gouges, or other damage to parts/assembly.
  • Complete required paperwork without error and job/inventory WIP’ing transaction via WIP Track (i.e.) moving jobs/completed work to the next manufacturing operation
  • Use extruded and paste wax to form, shape and create different shapes for the sprue or gating per engineering instruction. In some cases, the engineer will deviate from the Technical Card

1st Shift Finishing Operator

Weekly Pay

The finishing operator shall review castings for visual surface imperfections including positive/excess metal, negative indications, pits/inclusions, parting lines and evaluate their sizes against provided limiting criteria. These limits are shown as sizes in standard units such as 0.030″ in diameter and/or 0.005″ high for examples. If parts exhibit indications greater than the limits, the finishing operator shall blend the indications using small hand tools such as “Dotco/Dremel” type rotating air tools. The tools are equipped with burrs/stones/grinding discs to remove/blend indications without removal of excess amounts of base metal.

The operator will sandblast castings post blending and finishing and re-inpsect suspect areas for conformance. The operator will be evaluated periodically for productivity (good parts processed/hour) and quality, number of rework returns.

The facility greatly values cross-training and a flexible work force in terms of specific job responsibilities, while the operator’s main task shall be hand finishing, the operator should not be opposed to working in other areas such as gate grind, knock out or inspection once provided with the appropriate instruction

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Visually inspect casting for surface imperfection’s
  • Evaluate sizes of indications to a known standard limit
  • Hand Finish casting surface to bring indications down to acceptable size using air tools
  • Sandblast casting to a sheer finish
  • Re-evaluate suspect indication areas for conformance
  • Work with operators before and after hand finish to improve quality and productivity
  • Other responsibilities as trained and assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time while working castings
  • Must be able to understand basic inch and size measurements such as length, height, and diameters notated in decimal fractions of an inch.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of mfg. experience in a related field of metal working/hand finishing/ product inspection or in a position that required the employee to work effectively and intricately with their hands.
