Job Summary: The purchasing assistant supports the procurement team. This role is responsible for purchasing materials and services required for production, maintaining supplier records, and managing Vendor Service Requests and RMAs. The Purchasing Assistant ensures procurement activities meet quality standards, production requirements, and company policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process purchase orders (POs) for materials, components, and equipment based on purchasing queue and purchasing requests.
  • Track and confirm POs with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve discrepancies.
  • Communicate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining the Approved Supplier List (ASL) by verifying supplier quality documents
  • Manage Vendor Service Requests (VSRs) and Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) by initiating and tracking service requests with suppliers, including documentation, tracking, and resolution of defective or non-conforming orders.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of purchasing activities, including POs, invoices, VSRs, RMAs, and supplier information.
  • Assist in evaluating supplier quotes and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Work closely with internal teams such as production, sales, and quality to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules and requirements.
  • Provide timely updates to stakeholders regarding order statuses.

 

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with Shipping to prepare documentation and finished goods for shipment.
  • Support Receiving activities by verifying incoming shipments, matching them against purchase orders, and inspecting materials for quality and accuracy.
  • Provide kitting support by issuing materials and components to production job orders.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or vendor management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Precision Sheet Metal Mechanic

El Cajon, CA

This occupation requires the set up and operation of various precision sheet metal equipment. To fabricate sheet metal assemblies, detail assemblies and parts of light gauge material. The types of material include: all grade aluminum, stainless steel, cold roll steel (Approximately .010 to .250 thick). This occupation requires moderate physical exertion including lifting, bending and considerable time standing.

RESPONSIBILITIES Able to perform setups and operate various sheet metal related equipment. Able to read and interpret blueprints. Able to run a job from start to finish and be responsible for own first article. Able to work in development of first run parts and assemblies. Knowledge of math and trigonometry. Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Set up and run the following: shear, CNC Turret Punch Press, Punch Press, Press Brake, Spot-welder, Power Notcher, power roller, hydro press, resistance seam welder, expander, assembly, form bellows and debur.
  • Fabricate parts to dimensional tolerances as required by engineering drawings.
  • Responsible for checking all operations from material gauge and type through shearing, punching or forming.
  • Work independently and with others to develop guide lines for the production of sheet metal assemblies.
  • Figure shear size, and flat pattern layout using height gauges and other precision instruments from engineering drawings. 

Job Requirements:

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of three (3) years experience in precision sheet metal. Must be able to fabricate parts from sheet metal with experience in all types of material and tooling.
