Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, grind, and deburr fabricated parts from the welding and machine shop
  • Work with large parts and heavy equipment components
  • Safely and properly use hand and power tools
  • Follow detailed instructions, production processes, and safety procedures
  • Read and interpret tape measurements; blueprint reading is a plus
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues to supervisors

General Machinist 

The General Machinist II plans and executes projects using machine tools including boring tools, calipers, drilling machines, grinding machines, lathes, milling cutters, and workshop presses.    

Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, charts & tables.  Needs to be able to edit programs and write simple programs.  Needs to work to dimensions and tolerances provided by blueprints.  Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools. Monitor speed and feed of machines during the machining process.  Prefer to have both FANUC and HAAS controls for Lathes. Needs to be able to work on Lathes machinery. Mills experience is a plus.

Schedule: 6am-2:30pm, Mon-Fri

Pay: $22-$28/hr depending on Experience

Job functions: 

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts
  • Work to dimensions and tolerances provided by blueprints
  • Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision
  • Fit and assemble machined metal parts and sub assemblies using hand and power tools
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
  • Edit programs as needed / Write short programs as needed
  • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine needs for adjustments or repairs
  • Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal
  • Scan all jobs through the Made2Manage (M2M) system

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of machine shop experience required
  • Completion of a technical trade school, or the equivalent of education and experience, or trade certification for general Machinist is preferred
  • Ability to complete a technical trade school apprentice program within four years is required
  • Ability to use measuring devices to verify that work meets blueprint specifications
  • Basic shop math skills including knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and their application is required
  • Able to edit programs
  • Able to write short programs
  • Ability to communicate clearly

  • Use a hand drill (powered or non-powered) to drill sensors onto modules.
  • Apply adhesive to assemble parts securely.
  • Transport modules to and from workstations.
  • Pack modules into boxes.
  • Assist in team lifting of packed boxes (up to 40 lbs) from the packing area to the shipping area.
