Painter / Powder Coat Technician – 2nd Shift

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Painter / Powder Coat Technician to join our team supporting a leading energy manufacturer in Randleman. This role is responsible for preparing, painting, and powder coating components and assemblies to meet strict quality and safety standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Painting & Powder Coating

  • Hand spray parts and products using liquid or powder coatings.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, degreasing, and masking metal parts.
  • Select appropriate powder coating materials based on project requirements.
  • Apply powder using a spray gun to achieve even, consistent coverage.
  • Mix and apply automotive-grade, three-part epoxy paints (primer and topcoat).
  • Inspect wet and dry film thickness to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Load and unload parts from curing ovens.

Quality & Process Control

  • Perform visual inspections to identify defects or imperfections.
  • Monitor material levels and report shortages or issues.
  • Communicate with supervisors and paint vendors to support process improvements.

Equipment & Work Area Maintenance

  • Clean and maintain spray guns, powder equipment, and paint tools.
  • Ensure all equipment is serviced according to maintenance schedules.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to chemicals, coatings, and high-voltage equipment.

 

 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience applying automotive-grade epoxy paint on small and large assemblies.
  • Understanding of powder coating techniques and material types.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and written directions.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise spray application.
  • Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting coating issues.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Experience Levels

  • Painter I: 6 months–5 years
  • Painter II: 6–14 years
  • Senior Painter: 15+ years
