Location: Orleans, IN 

Packaging Job Functions:

  • Work safely and within the guidelines of the Sanitation and Q. A. Department to efficiently grade, pack and box ground beef patties to meet White Castle specifications and U.S.D.A. requirements.
  • To work safely grading and straightening the ground beef patties as they come from the slicer to insure the wholesomeness of our product.
  • To grade and pack the correct number of patty layers in a box.
  • Compile and verify the correct number of boxes packed and report it to the supervisor.

Formulate/Grind Job Functions:

  • Set up batches of raw materials onto the meat table and operate conveyors, grinders and mixers.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. 
  • Adjust formula as determined by the Quality Assurance personnel and rework to batches as necessary.
  • Clean meat carts if necessary.
  • Operate log extrusion equipment.
  • Move pallets of raw material to production area and move meat carts to and from tempering room.

  • Ability to work well with co-workers in a physically close environment.

Job Description

This an opportunity for a motivated individual to play an integral role for the quality of material inputs and output of final product in a state of the art cement manufacturing facility.  The Lab Technician reports to the Quality Control Supervisor.  The job responsibilities and functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure sample integrity and properly collect, identify, prepare and homogenize and store all samples
  • Collect, record, store, analyze and distribute information concerning quality control results
  • Communicate all appropriate results, information and problems to the appropriate supervisors, foremen and plant associates
  • Monitor the quality of the quarried materials through the appropriate testing
  • Control the quality of the raw mill production by performing the appropriate tests and making any necessary changes to maintain the posted targets
  • Control the quality of the finish mill production by performing the appropriate tests and making any necessary changes to maintain the posted targets
  • Control the quality of the kiln production by performing the appropriate testing
  • Perform testing that will enhance the production rate or quality of all plant operations
  • Learn the procedure for the making of glass pellets
  • Insure all plant production meets the specifications of the company, the plant and the customer by performing appropriate testing
  • Perform tests to resolve customer complaints and meet customer needs
  • Assist in the development of new products
  • Monitor all laboratory equipment and plant equipment for proper operation and report any deviations to the proper personnel
  • Keep the department and associated equipment clean
  • Perform tests to determine the quality of fuels
  • Determine the quality of purchased materials by performing the appropriate tests
  • Perform wet chemistry when required
  • Perform all physical testing duties
  • Perform production and inventory record keeping duties
  • Participate in the plant microscopy program
  • Complete assigned work and be in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Complete work in a safe manner and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 2 year degree in Chemistry or similar technical degree beneficial but not required.
  • 2 years of lab experience in cement testing preferred Basic knowledge of lab equipment
  • Must be capable of lifting a bag of cement from the floor to the workbench (Type I bag = 94 pounds)
  • Must be able to work weekends and or Holidays for laboratory coverage
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • This is not a remote position. The ideal candidate lives within 15 minutes of Mitchell, IN. 
  • Physical Requirements:  sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment.
