Job Title: Machine Operator
Pay Rate: $18.00 – $20.00
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Machine Operator with experience operating laser cutters or similar production equipment. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain a variety of manufacturing machinery—including lasers, die cutters, folder gluers, benders/processors, and water jets—to ensure products meet quality, safety, and production standards.
This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient workflow, minimizing waste, and supporting cross-training efforts across the production floor.
Machine Operation & Setup
- Read and interpret job tickets, CAD layouts, and production specifications.
- Set up and operate assigned machinery such as laser cutters, die cutters, folder gluers, benders, and water jets.
- Perform make-readies, including installing dies, tooling, gluing systems, counters, and other components.
- Monitor machine performance and product quality throughout production runs.
- Conduct inspections, make adjustments, and approve jobs before moving them to the next department.
- Operate additional finishing equipment as needed (stripper, blanker, punch press, taper, guillotine, etc.).
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate complex problems when necessary.
- Maintain accurate machine logs, downtime reports, and production counts.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure all products meet internal and customer quality standards.
- Monitor and minimize material waste.
- Complete quality control documentation and maintain accurate production records.
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and safe machine operation.
Collaboration & Flexibility
- Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules.
- Assist in training new or less experienced operators.
- Support other machines or departments during peak workloads or staffing gaps.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in production meetings and provide feedback on process improvements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
• Ability to read and interpret job tickets, CAD images, and blueprints.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with solid troubleshooting skills.
• Basic math skills (measurements, counts, waste tracking).
• Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Flexibility to cross-train and operate multiple types of machinery.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure production environment.
