Description
General Machinist
Responsible for planning and completing machining projects using tools such as lathes, mills, drills, grinders, boring tools, calipers, and presses. Must read and interpret blueprints, drawings, charts, and tables. Able to edit CNC programs and write simple programs. Works to specified dimensions and tolerances and sets up, operates, and maintains various machine tools while monitoring speed and feed during machining.
Experience with FANUC and HAAS controls for lathes is preferred. Lathe proficiency required; milling experience is an asset.
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 6:00am–2:30pm
Pay: $22–$28/hr DOE
Key Functions:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and sample parts
- Machine components to blueprint dimensions and tolerances
- Set up, operate, and maintain manual and CNC equipment
- Fit and assemble machined parts using hand and power tools
- Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments
- Align and secure fixtures, tools, and materials
- Monitor machine feed and speed during operation
- Edit or write short CNC programs as needed
- Diagnose machine issues through observation and sound
- Sort scrap for reuse, recycling, or disposal
- Log all jobs in the Made2Manage (M2M) system
