Job Opening: Experienced Inventory Lead

Client in Durham area looking for an experienced Inventory Technician Lead!
Monday through Friday 6am to 2:30pm and some OT as needed- 22 an hour
Job description:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of inventory staff: receiving, storing, issuing, transferring and staging materials.

Lead and execute periodic cycle counts and full physical inventories; reconcile actual counts vs system records and investigate discrepancies.

Monitor inventory accuracy, stock levels (minimums/maximums), rotates, obsolete stock, and material usage; escalate issues as needed.

Ensure inventory data integrity in the ERP/WMS system: item master data, bin locations, part numbers, status codes and adjustments.

Collaborate with procurement, operations, field service, manufacturing and maintenance to forecast material needs and avoid stock-outs or excess.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives in inventory processes: labeling, storage layout, bin management, pull-flow, lean practices.

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and material handling procedures; maintain clean and organized storage areas.

Train, mentor and coach team members on best practices, systems usage, inventory policies and standard operating procedures.

Generate regular inventory reports and metrics (e.g., accuracy rate, cycle count variance, on-hand value, shrinkage) and present findings to management.

Assist with shipping/receiving tasks as needed (e.g., special shipments, rush issues) and help coordinate with logistics.

Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in inventory control or warehouse operations, with at least 1-2 years in a lead/supervisory role managing a team of 6 to 10 employees.

Experience in a manufacturing, field service or industrial environment is highly beneficial.

Proficiency with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle, etc.).

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to identify root causes of inventory discrepancies.

Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to train and motivate team members.

Comfortable working in a warehouse/industrial environment: physical lifting (e.g., up to 50 lbs), standing/walking for extended periods, operating material handling equipment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ability to generate reports.

Familiarity with lean/continuous improvement is a plus.
