Job Opening: Painting Lead
Description
An aerospace company is seeking an experienced Painter Lead to oversee painting operations and ensure the application of high-quality finishes on various parts and assemblies. This hands-on role requires expertise in paint preparation, application, and curing processes, along with leadership skills to guide the team and maintain safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and clean surfaces using sanding, wiping, and solvent treatments
- Mask and protect surfaces prior to painting
- Safely load and unload parts onto paint racks
- Mix and prepare primers and paints per specifications (gloss, semi-gloss, flat)
- Verify surface preparation before painting
- Apply primer and paint using spray equipment on parts of various shapes and sizes
- Operate curing ovens and monitor temperature and cycle times
- Conduct visual inspections to ensure quality compliance
- Maintain and clean paint booth equipment (spray guns, filters, etc.)
- Lead and support team members to ensure efficient workflow and task completion
- Promote continuous improvement in production and quality control
- Enforce safety regulations and company policies
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime Available)
Pay Rate: $25–$27 per hour, DOE
Requirements:
- 5–10 years of experience in a paint shop, preferably in aerospace or automotive
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Skilled in mixing and preparing various paint and primer formulations
- Basic understanding of blueprints and work order documentation
- Ability to pass respiratory fit and pulmonary function tests (if required)
- Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs
- Proven leadership skills in a production environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with powder coating processes
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
- Previous supervisory or lead experience
- Proficiency with inspection tools for coating thickness and quality
