Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with company and customer specifications. The role involves using standard measuring instruments, visual evaluation, and documentation within a production environment. The inspector performs first article inspections on machined parts, new products, revision changes, and items from new suppliers. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Quality, Machine Shop, Production Leads, and Design Engineering teams to review and resolve nonconforming materials and components.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

Perform quality checks using standard measuring devices according to established quality and engineering procedures.

Assist with Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as directed by the Senior Inspector or Manager.

Participate in the corrective action process to address and prevent recurring nonconformances.

Document all Non-Conforming Materials (NCMs) as they occur.

Complete inspection operations, ensuring accurate documentation of results.

Communicate discrepancies or issues to the Senior Inspector or appropriate personnel.

Conduct inspections in both standing and sitting positions as required.

Review Return Material Authorizations (RMAs), manage return processes, and document findings.

Ensure compliance with ISO 9000 Guidelines in all quality activities.

Support manufacturing operations by providing accurate quality data and assistance as needed.

Support the Machine Shop with first article and in-process inspections.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality or management.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality inspection or quality assurance role with product acceptance decision authority.

Proficient in the use of measuring devices including calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gauges, and comparators.

Knowledge of calibration systems and their management.

Ability to perform first article and layout inspections independently.

Skilled in recording inspection results and maintaining proper documentation.

Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.

Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).

Proficient in English (written and verbal) communication.

Experience with VISUAL ERP and Lotus Notes for recording findings, reviewing data, and documenting NCMs and Corrective Actions.

Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
