Description
Essential Functions:
-
Set up and standardize penetrant black lights, process known defect standards, and evaluate results
-
Take measurements of pressure and water gauges; evaluate in-use penetrant and developer
-
Apply penetrant to aerospace parts in accordance with aerospace specifications
-
Understand and apply required dwell times for penetrant; wash off penetrant per aerospace prime specifications
-
Control developer dwell times and perform evaluations per aerospace OEM specifications
-
Determine part acceptability or reject ability based on inspection criteria
-
Maintain basic knowledge of related departments such as pre-penetrant etching, cleaning, pre-treatment, masking, shot peen, and painting
-
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of penetrant inspection using a Type I, Method A, Form D system
-
Provide guidance and supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel
-
Interpret and apply OEM and aerospace industry specifications for penetrant inspection
-
Develop part-specific inspection techniques in accordance with customer requirements
-
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
Proven experience in penetrant inspection within the aerospace industry
-
Familiarity with aerospace OEM specifications and industry standards
-
Strong understanding of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) principles and practices
-
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, specifications, and inspection criteria
-
Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
-
Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
-
Strong communication and team collaboration abilities
-
Certification in NDT methods is a plus
