Job Opening: Machinist
Description
Under direct supervision, assists with the setup, operation, and adjustment of conventional or automatic machines such as Computer Numberic Controlled (CNC) broach machines. Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment. Reads CNC programs. Work is routine and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances. Requires basic knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes. Typically requires a high school education or equivalent and two years of experience.
Responsibilities:
• Write/edit/modify programs for CNC Machines
• Operates CNC machines according to exact tolerances specified on engineering prints
• Sets up and operates manual lathes, saws, cutting tools, slotting tools to meet exact tolerances on engineering prints.
• Performs routine inspections and minor maintenance
• Troubleshoots and corrects operational and quality issues
• Ensures the machine is in compliance with operational and safety guidelines
•Performs housekeeping duties as required
• Meets all production standards
• Run entire cell/area or multiple machines as a machinist
• Work in a constant state of alertness
• Regular and predictable attendance
• Work cooperatively with co-workers
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDES: Computer Measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures Hand tools Lifting devices such as overhead cranes and hoists Engineering drawings and prints Hours worked The Machinist normally works a 40-hour work week. Some overtime may be required to meet production demands.
Qualifications: Experience and Skill Required Minimum Education:
• Post high school with emphasis on machinist trade Minimum Experience:
• 2 years as a machinist Necessary Skills:
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to work in auto cad
• Ability to write CNC programs
• Ability to set up and operate manual lathes and other machines according to precise tolerances
• Advanced troubleshooting skills
• Basic maintenance skills
• Ability to work with little or no supervision
