Job Title: Shipping/Receiving Associate
Department/Location: Shipping – Brooklyn Park, MN
Reports To: Operations Manager
Schedule: 1st Shift – Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–3:30 PM; Friday, 6:00 AM–10:00 AM
Pay Range: $24.00 – $27.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Position Summary
The Shipping/Receiving Associate is responsible for performing a variety of shipping and receiving tasks, including preparing loads for shipment, completing all related paperwork and computer transactions, and handling materials using forklifts and pallet jacks. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety

Follow all safety rules and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
Shipping
-
Generate pick lists and pull products from inventory.

Package products for shipment, including building crates or using special packaging as needed.

Prepare shipping paperwork and enter transactions into the computer system.

Arrange and schedule domestic and international shipments, including container shipments.

Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner.

Provide timely freight quotes for domestic and international shipments.

Prepackage items ahead of due dates when possible to maintain workflow efficiency.

Ensure all required documentation for international shipments is completed and filed in compliance with audited requirements.
Receiving
-
Receive and inspect incoming materials for damage and quantity accuracy.

Enter receipts into the computer system and put materials away in designated locations.
Inventory Management

Maintain accurate inventory counts and locations.

Restock production lines as needed.

Perform cycle counts and other inventory control activities.
Continuous Improvement
-
Participate in process improvement efforts to eliminate waste and improve productivity.
ERP System Management

Accurately enter transactional data to maintain the integrity of the ERP system.
Additional Responsibilities

Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and best practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Capability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Qualifications
Experience:
-
Minimum of 1 year of material handling or shipping experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
-
Forklift operation experience required.

Knowledge of proper packaging techniques and safe material handling practices.

Strong math skills.
-
Experience with FedEx and UPS software, and/or international shipping documentation preferred.
Education:
-
High school diploma or GED preferred.
