Shipping & Receiving Coordinator
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift
Training Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Regular Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Location: Santa Fe Springs,CA
Position Summary
Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to manage the accurate receipt, identification, documentation, and shipment of customer materials. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product traceability, ensuring customer requirements are met, and supporting production through effective coordination of material flow throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing, machining, or metal processing environment and understands the importance of accuracy, organization, and quality control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving
- Receive incoming raw materials, customer-owned materials, and vendor deliveries.
- Verify received materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and customer documentation.
- Inspect incoming shipments for damage, quantity discrepancies, and proper identification.
- Record and maintain material heat numbers, certifications, and traceability documentation.
- Label and stage materials for production while maintaining identification throughout the manufacturing process.
- Notify Quality Management or Supervisors of damaged, incorrect, or non-conforming shipments.
Shipping
- Prepare finished orders for shipment according to customer specifications and requirements.
- Verify part quantities, dimensions, packaging requirements, and shipping documentation prior to release.
- Ensure all required certifications, inspection reports, and packing slips accompany shipments.
- Package materials to prevent damage during transportation.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation.
Warehouse & Material Handling
- Maintain accurate inventory locations and material identification.
- Move materials safely using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment (training and certification provided as required).
- Assist production by staging raw materials and transporting completed jobs between departments.
- Keep warehouse, shipping, and receiving areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Support inventory control activities and material organization initiatives.
Qualifications
- Previous shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, warehouse, or metal processing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret packing slips, purchase orders, work orders, and shipping documents.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Experience maintaining inventory records and material traceability is highly preferred.
- Forklift experience is a plus; training and certification will be provided as needed.
- Basic computer skills for data entry, record keeping, and shipping documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical duties including standing, walking, bending, and material handling throughout the shift.
