Hours: Monday – Friday (5:00am 3:30pm)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking CNC Lathe Programmer to join our advanced manufacturing team. This role is responsible for developing, verifying, and optimizing CNC programs to ensure precision machining, operational efficiency, and alignment with production goals. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in CAD/CAM systems, G-code programming, and digital manufacturing workflows.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyze engineering drawings, 3D models, and design data to determine machining strategy, tool paths, and cutting conditions.
- Write, verify, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software (via CimPro) and manual G-code adjustments.
- Collaborate with machinists, tooling vendors, and production supervisors to improve tool paths, setup documentation, and tooling performance.
- Revise programs and setups to enhance cycle times, reduce tool wear, and improve surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
- Apply manufacturing system principles to drive continuous improvement, reduce downtime, and improve asset reliability.
- Lead initiatives to increase asset utilization and cost-of-service delivery (CoSD) performance.
Modernization & Digital Manufacturing
- Transition from manual programming to integrated CAD-to-CAM workflows using standardized CimPro post-processors.
- Utilize simulation and digital twin environments for toolpath validation and collision detection.
- Support implementation of DNC or networked CNC file management systems.
- Participate in testing and deployment of new CAD/CAM technologies and assist in training material development.
Data & System Integration
- Maintain compliance with Digital applications including DLO and IAM systems.
- Ensure accurate and secure digital records of CNC programs and revisions.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance
- Apply Design for HSE principles to ensure safe, ergonomic, and environmentally responsible machining processes.
- Support audits, safety assessments, and failure investigations in collaboration with Reliability, CoSD, and Maintenance teams.
- Monitor CMMS data integrity to support reliability and CoSD analysis.
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM systems such as Fusion 360, Mastercam, or EdgeCam.
- Experience with PLM software (e.g., Windchill).
- Familiarity with CimPro post-processor customization and DNC workflows.
- Strong understanding of G-code/M-code and Fanuc/MAPPS control systems.
- Skilled in multi-axis machining, fixture design, and complex toolpath development.
- Proven success in leading CAD/CAM modernization or software migration initiatives.
