Aerospace company in Commerce,CA is in need of Cold/Hot Header Operators
Shift: 2nd shift 1:00pm to 9:30 pm / 3rd shift 9:00pm to 5:30 am
Job Summary:
Responsible for the complete and independent set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of all types of progressive header machines at the highest levels of complexity. Performs forming, shaping, cutting, piercing, and related operations on various metal wire and bar stock, meeting precise tolerances as specified by blueprints or other documentation. Ensures quality, safety, and efficiency throughout all phases of the production process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Blueprint & Documentation Review

Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.

Plan and determine sequence of operations to meet production requirements.

Machine Set-Up & Operation
-
Set up and operate progressive header machines (single/multiple blow and die configurations).

Adjust diameters, grip lengths, and depths to precise tolerances (± .0007).
-
Load and secure wire or bar stock, verify feed positions, and select proper tooling/speeds.

Production & Quality Control
-
Operate progressive headers and trimmer machines at the highest complexity levels.

Inspect parts visually and with measuring tools to ensure accuracy.

Perform rework and troubleshoot production issues as needed.

Documentation & Record keeping

Accurately maintain production logs, counts, tooling records, and rework documentation.

Utilize SPC (Statistical Process Control) to monitor process stability.

Collaboration & Training
-
Work as an active team member, assisting with problem-solving and process improvement.

Train and mentor employees of equal or lower classification in machine set-up and operation.

Maintenance & Equipment Care
-
Perform daily maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on machines and tooling.

Ensure proper handling of company property, tools, and equipment.

Safety & Housekeeping

Follow all company safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Demonstrate knowledge of machine safety and good housekeeping practices.

Apply problem-solving skills to machine set-up and operation challenges.

Suggest and implement improvements to workflow, tooling, and equipment efficiency.

Proven expertise in progressive header machine set-up and operation at advanced levels.

Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, tolerances, and machining practices.

Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).

Experience using SPC and production tracking software/worksheets.

Ability to train others and work effectively in a team environment.

Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
