Duties for this position include:

  • Installs specified dies on press die sets, and positions and clamps holding fixtures to die sets.
  • Aligns metal parts between dies or positions them against fixtures on press.
  • Moves controls to lower ram that forces dies together. Dimensionally lays out parts.
  • Monitors and records all associated dimensions on the product to ensure conformance to all customer specifications.
  • Identifies maintenance needs of equipment and reports to management.
  • Communicates with Die department on recommendation of windage and stock to add to dies.
  • Mixes lubricants in lubrication tank.
  • Performs preventative maintenance checks on press and die sets Monitors temperatures of furnaces according to type of metal being forged.
  • Completes quality documents such as SPC charts, routers, and tags.
  • Maintains housekeeping and safety standards in work area. Duties of Surface Prep Technician. Additional duties as requested by management.

Job Requirements:

  • Solid work history is required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience as Forge Press Operator.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Stamping Operator experience.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret job operation router.
  • GD&T knowledge is required.
  • Knowledge of how to use inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM) is required.
  • Good longevity in previous employment is a plus.

The Machinist, CNC reports to the Supervisor, Operations and within the machining value stream.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operate 3-axis, 4-axis or 5-axis machines, including performing tool changes and setting tool and work offsets
  • Perform setups that are a low to medium level of complexity
  • Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances
  • Load correct programs to the machine
  • Move controls to set cutting speeds and depths, feed rates, and to position tools in relation to work-pieces
  • Select and properly load the correct fixtures for the job (proper tools, holders, clearances as needed)
  • Set proper holding pressure on vises and collets
  • Perform in-process inspection of parts to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators
