The General Maintenance Associate is responsible for general maintenance and repairs of the building and grounds (75% of duties). Ensures that the facility is maintained at a high level, snow removal is performed in a timely manner when needed, and cleanliness and safety standards are upheld. The position may also do light cleaning as requested by management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

• Ability to use power tools to perform job tasks safely and with desired results.

• Ability to service basic mechanical devices and functions within the operations.

• Ability to operate alternate facility PIT (scissor lift, sit-down fork, floor scrubber, etc.) safely and within expectations of site leadership.

• Maintain and repair production equipment as needed.

• Monitor equipment and perform troubleshooting for problems and breakdowns.

• Maintain and repair facilities including basic plumbing and electrical systems.

• Maintain grounds, parking lots, and driveways. Clears snow.

• Provide recommendation to repair or replace poorly functioning equipment.

• Efficiently prioritizes repair schedule to ensure an uninterrupted production schedule.

• Conduct regular facilities inspections.

• Assist personnel as needed. Communicate regularly with personnel to ensure that repairs and maintenance needs are met and coordinated with production schedules.

• Keep management informed of areas activities and of significant concerns. Report major concerns or significant problems.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Manages, coaches, motivates and leads assigned production employees;
  • Estimates team hour requirements for completion of job assignment;
  • Coordinate assignments and adjusts procedures to meet production schedules, using knowledge of capacities of machines and equipment;
  • Assists in developing and implementing procedures to improve efficiency;
  • Start-up and Shut-down of equipment;
  • Provides performance feedback, job coaching, direct supervision and disciplinary action to ensure compliance with management policies, procedures and safety rules and regulations;

  • Input daily production and report scrap into electronic reporting system.
  • Responsible for safety on the production floor;  and
  • Should perform all duties in compliance with both GMP requirements.
  • Conducts shift meetings to review daily activity with direct and indirect personnel;

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reviews all Kit lists, has material pulled for all work orders, and reviews that sufficient quantities are available to complete the work order 4 to 24 hours before the Work Order is due to go on line;
  • Works with Production and Planning Managers to create a production schedule for each line;
  • Motivates employees to complete the work order correctly the first time to avoid re-works;
  • Walks the production line reviewing each work station and worker to insure that the Product Specifications and Production Goals are being met;
  • Hands in all work order forms and related documentation in a timely manner;
  • Conduct orientations with new groups of employees pertaining to our quality assurance policies, procedures and documentation requirements;
  • Monitor, audit and enforce good manufacturing practices (GMP's) within the department;
  • Assist the Plant Manager in the creation of a product “Specification Sheet” for each new product that is approved for production;
  • Assist the Plant Manager in training our production personnel in the use of our Standard Operating Procedures and forms;
  • Review your own Job Description and the Job Descriptions of workers in the department on a weekly basis to make sure that everyone is meeting the responsibilities of their job; and
  • Turn off all equipment, machinery and lights at the end of the day and ensure that the department is properly secured.

 

EDUCATION

High School diploma or higher required.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
