We are currently searching for a Material Processor to be based out of Downey, CA Reporting to the Bollard Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for material preparation for welding, post weld grinding/polishing, setup and operation of hand operated and automatic grinding/polishing equipment. Sheet rolling responsibilities include setup and operation of automated rolling equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system based company is a plus.

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Safely operate automated sheet rolling machine; using standard operating procedures.
  • Use of measurement tools and jigs to ensure part dimensions.
  • Safely operate hand tools for grinding and polishing; using standard operating procedures.
  • Safely operate automated polishing machine, using standard operating procedures.
  • Preparation of metal components for welding operations.
  • Post weld grinding/polishing of metal components to ensure welds are smooth and ready for powder coat or further polishing operations.
  • Complete required quality control inspections which may include a visual parts inspections to ensure quality standards are not compromised.
  • Match work orders to components and complete any required documentation.
  • Ensure quality throughout the production process while maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
  • Lifts and moves parts/product on and off work area then stages product for next operation.
  • Use various hand tools and power tools.
  • Ensure that safety devices are operative.
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance.

We are currently searching for a Quality Control Technician to be based out of Downey, CA Reporting to Bollard Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for performing product inspections using various types of measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Applied Science with 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system based company is a plus.

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications and apply company and customer procedures, specifications, and standards to ensure product compliance.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of pipe and tube schedules, plate and sheet, and AWS welding procedures.
  • Prepare job information including documents, gauges, quality history, etc. for production teams prior to the start of job setups.
  • Perform and monitor SPC on key characteristics as defined by customers and internal leadership teams.
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspection of incoming raw materials including pipe, tube, plate, sheet and other types.
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspection of manufactured parts, tooling, and fixtures to ensure final product conformance to customer specifications.
  • Initiate non-conformance reports on all parts and assemblies that are not to specification.
  • Initiate corrective action requests when conditions are adverse to quality.
  • Complete, inspect and distribute all quality records and documents.
  • Maintain job files for production run data, first piece approvals, maintenance logs, visual alerts, etc.
  • Work with purchasing to maintain vendor profiles and quarterly scorecards.
  • Calibrate gauging and maintain calibration records for gauges and other equipment.
  • Assist in the training of new production personnel in gauges, gauging techniques, equipment, SPC, data collection, and weld quality policies and procedures.
  • Participate in creating and maintaining a neat, organized, and safe work environment consistent with company standards.
