SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventive maintenance, repair and improvement activities on various production processing lines and equipment. The mechanic will join a growing Thermoplastic operations team, focused on process optimization and stability while preparing for significant future growth. They will also be part of a larger, site-wide facilities team and work on various projects/installations and other general facilities work when appropriate.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Work on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility machinery.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery, as part of the overall TPM process.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery and equipment.
  • Alongside the process engineering team; diagnose, recommend improvements and take appropriate corrective actions to equipment to achieve optimum line efficiency and up time.
  • Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
  • Communicate effectively with all operational team members and participate in improvement teams and other focused projects as assigned.
  • Maintain and secure work tools.
  • Clean and maintain the working areas for safety and good manufacturing practice.
  • Turn off & lock out equipment when not in use. Perform the Lock-out Tag-out process diligently
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct manager/supervisor.
  • Able to work overtime and flex work hours occasionally to support a 24/7 production environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Advanced skills required in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, plumbing & piping systems, or PLC programming.
  • Basic welding skills beneficial.
  • Ability to program PLC's desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with TPM software systems, TPM methods & continuous improvement activities a strong plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with all levels of the company.

Coordinate request for quote activities including accurate, consistent pricing and lead time information within customer’s requested time frame.  Prepare quote based on information provided by Sales and Customer.  When appropriate, follow-up with customers and make order revisions to meet customer needs. REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business and government regulations as part of purchase order and contracts.   Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, metric to American conversions and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.   Must be experienced and comfortable working within a mid- level ERP system.
