Must have adequate knowledge of the Electrical Code (NEC) Requires computer skills and knowledge of company job costing, Spectrum, Accubid, software programs, Microsoft Office, etc.
Math and Budgeting: Project managers are expected to keep and maintain a budget in almost every field.
You will need to be confident in using math skills to make sure you know where your company’s money is going.
Analytical Skills:
Must possess analytical skills to be able to solve problems that may come up during a typical workday.
You will be analyzing data and making decisions that affect the project on a regular basis.
Build teamwork between co-workers, field men, and/or other employees.
Time Management:
You will be working with employees, customers, and management; often handling multiple tasks at once.
Leadership Skills:
Must be able to keep your employees motivated, resolve conflicts, and make hard decisions for your employees. Show great Leadership skills in setting good examples for your men and representing the company.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Working in all weather conditions
Education and Experience:
- Five years in the commercial electrical trade preferably running projects as a foreman.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage each project from Start to Finish.
- Once we are awarded a project – Receive the project through a “Job Hand-off” meeting with the salesperson.
- Shopping and purchasing materials, purchasing permits, potential drawings, coordinate utility companies, and managing sub-contractors as needed.
- Coordinate job start tasks with customer, foreman, and dispatcher.
- Meet field men on-site or coordinate with them to ensure installation follows scope and customer’s satisfaction.
- Visit job sites and attend job meetings as needed.
- Attend and participate in scheduling meetings.
- Coordinating manpower needs with dispatcher daily/weekly and more so when the workload is extremely light or heavy.
- Bring in jobs in a timely manner.
- On/underbid to meet or exceed material/labor bid and GP%
- Communicate estimate accuracy with estimators.
- Responsible for bid draws, change orders, and T&M billings
- Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
- Process material submittals and record documents and as-built drawings
- Complete project with a Close Out Meeting including Salesman, Estimator, and Foreman
- Potentially help with collections related to your customers.
- Closeout projects with a happy and satisfied customer
- Customer Service – Maintain and build relationships with all customers you are responsible for and provide exceptional customer service at all times. Return phone calls in a timely manner. Zero customer complaints. No unjustified loss of customers or vendors.
- Attend field training sessions to provide field support and assist Field Supervisor with training when needed.
- Always promote and be conscious of safety and have zero safety violations, set examples for wearing proper PPE, follow company policy, customers policy, and OSHA
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Supervise a portion of Construction Field Electricians, mentor, train, and encourage your men to be the best they can be.
- Give Performance Reviews and manage wages and incentives.
