Job description
Job Description: The Mechanical Engineer’s role is to apply knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication and assembly methods, analysis and tooling for strategic electromechanical projects and embedded hardware platforms. The Mechanical Engineer will work in collaboration with other engineering and operations disciplines.
Essential Functions
- Perform mechanical packaging engineering of electronics for applications requiring a high level of capability and robustness in aggressive applications
- Employ basic engineering concepts related to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and apply EMC concepts to design applications
- 3-Dimensional modeling using SolidWorks
- Creation of detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, Bill of Materials and manufacturing process documents
- Successful application of manufacturing methods, procedures and processes, such as machining, forming, surface finishing and non-destructive testing
- Application of GD&T in design and drawings with experience in the application of ASME Y14.5 Drawing Standards
- Basic application of structural, thermal and vibration analyses using classical methods and FEA
- Interface with customers to determine and define requirements
- Design to customer requirements and review compliance to customer requirements
- Collaboration with operations to transition products from development to production
- Planning, managing and execution of multiple design activities while maintaining quality requirements, budget costs and schedule milestones
- Provide guidance and mentor more junior engineers in best mechanical design practices

- Desire to lead teams and be promoted to higher levels of responsibility
- Knowledge of Microsoft products including Windows 7, Word, Excel, etc.
- Aerospace and Military standards and project RPF is desireable
- Excellent oral and written English skills
- U.S Citizen/Person Required
Required Education/Experience:
- 8+ years recent hands-on experience within an Aerospace, Defense or Space Environment.
- BA in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering related field.
