ResourceMFG is seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer for our manufacturing client located in Romulus, Michigan.
The Sr. Quality Engineer will support production in all areas of the production process from start to finish. Directly oversee and assess the performance of the Quality Engineers reporting to them.
Include but are not limited to:
Responsible for the overall development, coaching and mentoring of the Quality Eng. team members – Procedures, DTS & Customer requirements and assess performance
Responsible for planning and coordination of quality programs and activities to ensure the quality and reliability.
Develop, execute and/or monitor quality plans and quality engineering tasks, as well as, manufacturing process validations and controls to ensure compliance with established requirements and regulatory expectations.
APQP – Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with Customer and DTS requirements.
Support the training of Quality Techs of relevant requirements of the quality management system.
Define and ensure the implementation of Safe Launch procedures as required for new programs and Controlled shipping procedures for Quality spills with plan to exit within a reasonable time frame.
Provide direction and leadership towards supplied parts Quality standards for production. Drive initial DTS supplier root cause analysis for supplier related quality concerns to confirm supplier fault. Work with SQ to drive Quality issues to closure.
Lead/Coach/Mentor/provide Quality support for Corrective Action (CA) teams ensure lessons learned are captured and read across to common lines and programs
Establish training needs for responsible programs/lines and ensure training is planned/executed for entire team(s)
Coordinate/coach plant teams in the creation of monthly reports/data collection
Perform Process/Control plan Audits – ensure status is captured and reported w/defined CA plans taken to closure
Highlight and communicate awareness of major quality concerns / Work and coach plant team members for all significant quality spills or recalls
Responsible to drive modification of DTS standards/procedures based upon systemic lessons learned
Ensure implementation and compliance to Customer specific requirements
Ensures all CA’s properly documented and verified (evidence of revised documents or on-site reviews)
Monitor, Collect and analyze internal and Customer data from reporting tools to establish Quality performance trends, define actions to address these and drive these actions to closure.
Support Plant launch activities as needed – ensure compliance to Customer PPAP requirements
Pull and ensure accuracy of monthly charts for reporting purposes
Generate Monthly CP / SCAAF and PFMEA Audit Results/Status Presentation
Support Internal Audits / Follow Up on responsible Corrective Actions
Oversee and ensure compliance to Customer ES specifications – per program and Control plan requirements
Drive warranty improvement activities and 8D responses towards the customer
Ensure training for lab equipment use, testing procedures and MSA issue resolution for all programs
Ensure common and accepted safety protocols for Quality group are implemented as needed and compliance is maintained within their team
Drive continuous improvement programs with plant program teams (quality incentive programs, quality improvement meetings, etc…)
Escalate to the Quality Director when support is required
Position includes leading teams of hourly and salaried personnel. Must be able to ensure quality standards while working with production, consistent with business needs and Company standards. Must work well with entire work force.
Bachelor’s degree required, (Engineering or other technical field desired) with 5-10 years of experience, preferably with a launch; Desired competencies/experiences include Disciplined Problem Solving, PPAP, FMEA, and strong TS16949 and Q1 background, internal auditor experience. Demonstrated ability to evaluate Control Plans, FMEAs, Process Flow diagrams, and conduct PPAPs. 2 years experience leading/managing team of 3 or more salaried employees
