In Williamston, MI we are looking for a direct hire Machinist for day shift. Up to $25 / hour based on experience.
Schedule: 1st shift 7am-330pm Mon-Fri, some OT

Duties of a Machinist role:

Responsible for maintaining compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and Company safety standards.

Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

Configures mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

Loads machine with work pieces.

Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces

Maintains specifications by observing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; editing programs; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.

Responsible for preventative maintenance and good housekeeping to insure good quality and continuation of safe operation.

Confers with supervisors, engineering, production personnel or others to resolve manufacturing problems. Report shortages of parts, tools, and materials in a timely manner.

Operates power equipment and material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.).

Must have personal hand tools to perform tasks effectively.

Ability to work with metric and inch system.

Responsible for submitting daily time accounting and payroll information or other paperwork requested.
Minimum requirements twenty-five (25) credits and two (2) years experience job related and/or equivalent.
- Ability to manufacture components for sub assemblies and/or final machine assemblies with the use of routings, drawings, and bill of material with supervision or assistance from others as needed.
- Capable of understanding basic drawings and bill of material.
- Document changes as needed on routings, drawings, and bill of material.
- Operate conventional and/or CNC equipment.
- Proficient knowledge and use of precision measuring equipment and holding tolerances.
- Perform first part inspection to verify part is to specifications.
- Basic knowledge of metallurgy for calculating and setting controls to regulate machining factors such as speeds, feeds, coolant selection and depth and angle of cut or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit CNC media.
- Assists in manufacturing of prototype equipment.
- Install machined parts in mechanisms, machines and equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionally and performing.
