A client of ours in the Lansing, MI area is searching for an Assistant Production Supervisor for their first shift schedule. 

In this role you will be responsible partly for overseeing and organizing the equipment, staff, and processes on a production floor based off the Production Supervisor’s request. You will oversee production activities as well as acting as first-line troubleshooting should problems arise.

Duties of an Assistant Production Supervisor:

• Fully participate in and support the Quality Business Management System.
• Manage/supervise all activities in the manufacturing of product on the assigned shift.
• Ensures daily work/machine sheets and in-process inspection work instruction sheets as needed to support manufacturing are completed.
• Verifies conformance of finished product to specifications.
• Can change some tools on machines; cannot change dimensions on machines.
• Maintains safe work habits; maintains and cares for shop tools, machines and equipment.
• Responsible for housekeeping and maintaining a safe workplace.
• Stays current with technical changes through continuous improvement.
• Notifies Plant Supervisor of any nonconforming product issues or problems.
• Performs after hours shipping and receiving function, including verification if applicable.
• Ensures shop is secure and machines all turned off when closing shop at end of shift if applicable.
• Responsible for training to the requirements per the Training Matrix and is fully trained in each requirement relating to production per IATF 16949.
• Responsible for verification and processing of the previous shift’s defects recorded on the line side production logs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

• Quality and Inspection Knowledge
• Basic understanding of the ISO-14001 & IATF16949
• Minimum of three years’ experience in related field
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English and Spanish
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, diagrams, quality documentation, blueprints.
• Ability to perform machine setup, programming and know machine codes.
• Working knowledge of gages, calipers and micrometers
• Basic Metrology skills which include calibration
• CMM capability
• Able to work a flexible schedule to include overtime as needed to meet customer requirements.
