We are searching for a Mold Design Engineer for a direct hire job opportunity with one of our clients in Cadillac, MI. The pay for this role is experience based.

Duties of a Mold Design Engineer: 

• Design prototype and production molds with the goal to minimize tooling cost and maximize manufacturing efficiency by selecting best solution

• Knowledge and practice of Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements
• Launch, follow and sign off all prototype and production molds
• Works with tooling vendor for communication and follow tool progress.
• Support tool launch of new prototype and production tools
• Create technical RFQs for prototype and production tools
• Assist quoting process by providing molding options
• Encourage engineering to design parts that are efficient to produce in manufacturing
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• US Department of Labor Apprenticeship Certificate completion in tool and die or a Bachelors Degree Mechanical Engineering in mold design or equivalent; and four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with Industrial, engineering, production, and other plant and office personnel. 
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
•  Must have good computer skills with a working knowledge of of rubber mold design including materials, machining techniques and capabilities, and rubber characteristics. Must understand and be able to influence the build of molds in a manufacturing environment. 
• Must be able to identify root causes of issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and process several abstract and concrete variables. 
• Must be able to assess reasonableness of the analysis performed.
