A client of ours, who is the world's fastest-growing insulation manufacturer, is currently seeking an experience Maintenance Technician. This is a 2nd shift opportunity and shift times are 2PM-2AM. Hourly pay for the Maintenance Technician position, are based on experience, ranging between $36.57 - 38.29 an hour. 

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.  In this role you will work on projects that include designing, programming, testing and commissioning controls programs in an automated materials handling environment, including Energy Conservation.

Duties for the Maintenance Technician include:

  • Follow design and work processes to design, program, test and commission controls programs.
  • Read and understand standard electrical schematics and be skilled in troubleshooting control systems during start-up and debug.
  • Use safe work practices and counsel other employees to do the same, as necessary. This includes understanding and complying with the lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Participate in safety training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to hazards in the workplace
  • Determine if machines need to be taken out of production for repairs or service
  • Prioritize work when more than one issue needs addressed at a time
  • Take an active role in the requisitioning of parts/materials necessary for the continued operation of the plant
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled and as needed
  • Know all safety warning signs and signals and take corrective action
  • Communicate maintenance issues with other shifts to ensure continuity of operation. Read and record comments in both Maintenance and Production logbooks
  • Ensure that housekeeping in the Maintenance Department is maintained to a safe level and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such area for breaks, meal times and end of the shift
  • Remain current on plant and safety matters, participating regularly in department/plant safety meetings
  • Follow established procedures governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and supplies
  • Report all accidents/incidents to Supervisor, Maintenance
  • Oversee all electrical needs for the facility (lighting, production equipment, systems, etc.)
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
  • Replace defective electrical switches and other fixtures
  • Repair and maintain electrical equipment for building
  • Install machinery and equipment according to blueprints and other specifications with regard to electrical required

Job Requirements

  • Formal training in digital electronics or microprocessor controls.
  • Experience in automated control systems including, but not limited to, design and programming PLCs, HMIs, and VF drives.
  •  
    • Proficient with ladder logic programming with Rockwell PC applications such as RS Linx, RS NetWorx and RS Logix 5, 500, and 5000.
    • Must be familiar with Allen Bradley Panelbuilder 32 and RS View development HMI applications.
    • Must have experience with VF drives, specifically AB drives.
    • Must be proficient with PLC networking configurations for Ethernet, DeviceNet, DH+, DF1.
    • Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel, and have a familiarity with AutoCad.
    • Experience with Siemans PLCs and HMIs.
  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly
  • Ability to read schematics or Piping and instrumentation Drawings
  • Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgement, and include appropriate people in decision-making process
  • Ability to count and perform basic math functions, including mental calculation of simple equations and/or fractions
  • Ability to adhere to guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook and follow ISO and management / departmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to use time efficiently and complete work in a timely manner
  • Ability to monitor own work to ensure quality and continuously looks for ways to improve and promote quality
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and develop alternative solutions
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and uphold organizational values
  • Ability to report to work on time and work all hours required of the job, including mandatory overtime; may be required to occasionally cover shifts other than the one for which hired
