In Walker, MI we are searching for a Continuous Improvement Specialist for a Direct Hire opportunity we have available. Pay for this position will vary based off experience.

In this role you will be responsible for performing functions to provide leadership and technical support to cells on identified projects to improve machine efficiency, cell productivity and product quality.

Duties of a Continuous Improvement Specialist:

• Developing a project plan for implementing improvements by clearly defining program objectives, scope, and potential savings.
• Evaluate and prioritize potential process improvements based on effort vs impact.
• Investigate, prepare cost analysis, and recommend plan for integrating new technology, equipment, fixtures, or tooling to improve processes.
• Contact vendors to discuss, select and order items for projects as required.
• Facilitate meetings with other departments or cells to reduce cycle time on business processes.
• Oversee installation of new equipment or work process changes and ensure that it functions according to specifications.
• Provide leadership of process improvement efforts in manufacturing.  Specify performance indicators, deliverables, and assist with corrective actions.
• Ensure that proper training is provided to operators when process changes are implemented enabling them to meet safety, quality, and operational expectations.
• Use statistical methods to gather decision making data and transfer understanding to others.
• Research and stay abreast of alternative manufacturing techniques and methods and recommend changes in procedures or equipment as necessary to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Regularly monitor and audit the implementation of solutions to insure gains are sustained.

• Completes capacity analysis internally and/or at suppliers for headcount, equipment and space requirements using simulation software or other effective tools that leads to optimization of resources.
• Secure employee commitment and convince internal customers to make fundamental changes to their manufacturing and/or business processes

Job Requirements

• Associates degree or lean certificate required. 
• Bachelor’s degree in related field is strongly preferred. 

• 2- 3 years of experience in process improvement
• Must have led internal projects or teams in the past 
• Extensive experience applying process improvement principles to a manufacturing and office setting 

• Train, lead, and coach teams of employees to eliminate wastes using lean methodologies.
• Plan, schedule, and lead continuous improvements events.
• Identify opportunities to eliminate waste, improve flow, reduce cost and improve efficiency.
• Provide leadership and support to areas on projects to improve machine efficiency, cell productivity, and product quality.
• Analyze and provide recommendation on new technology or new processes that can improve process efficiencies.
