A client of ours is searching for a Continuous Improvement Manager for their Direct Hire opportunity near the Grand Rapids, MI area. Pay for this role will vary based off experience. 

In this role you will be responsible for providing leadership, facilitation, and education to team members, pertaining to the continuous improvement culture across company operations (and provide support to global operations).

Duties of a Continuous Improvement Manager:

  • Partner with local plant managers, site leaders, and team members to implement and develop a culture of continuous improvement across multiple plants globally.
  • Utilize our values, to guide the CI organization. Align your leadership technics to follow each of the value threads and individual statements listed under each of the values.
  • Oversee various projects targeted at improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Promote teamwork and workforce development, while building strong relationships through employee engagement.
  • Work closely with leadership to ensure standardization of best practices throughout the organization.
  • Review and recommend improvements for reporting tools/methodologies for plant Key Performance Indicators.
  • Develop monthly progress reports to be presented to division/company leadership.
  • Coordinate, train, educate, lead, and facilitate teams to implement sustained improvements, to increase the productivity and reliability of the processing operations and assist in achieving the performance targets for each facility.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement department team members to achieve company goals by actively managing team performance using data and performance measures.
  • Use formal and informal feedback to provide teams with leadership, support, and guidance.
  • Develop process improvement skills of the production employees, to identify and analyze potential areas for improvement
  • Mentor other CI team members and production staff on best practices and lean methodologies
  • Keep a constant “ear to the ground” on changes to the CI industry, including new processes and technologies that the company could leverage 


Job Requirements

  • Black Belt certification required; Master Black belt preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related engineering field
  • Master’s degree or MBA Preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience successfully driving continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methods, within high-volume high mix and low volume high mix manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to travel 30-50% of the time, including international travel
  • Willing to shift between strategic work and executing tactically
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with continually changing objectives/priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead teams to success with limited levels of authority across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven facilitation, influencing and leadership skills. Proven ability to lead, facilitate and influence diverse teams of company employees
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (including public speaking, presentations, and classroom sessions) throughout all levels of the organization.
