A client of ours in Cleveland, OH is searching for Tool & Die Makers on day shift (Monday - Friday 7AM- 3:30PM). Pay for this role is experience based. This is for a job shop environment, not production machining.

The Machinist / Tool and Die Maker machines precision components to tight tolerances utilizing standard tool room equipment in a job shop environment.  Assemble tools, fixtures and machinery with regard to fit, form and function.

Duties of a Tool and Die Maker:

  • Construct new tools and dies as required.
  • Review drawings and specifications.
  • Design simple jigs and fixtures.
  • Plan and implement order of operation to manufacture.
  • Calculate speeds and feeds.
  • Inspect parts.
  • Machine parts to tight tolerances (.0005)
  • Repair and maintain production tools and dies
  • Troubleshoot tooling equipment then repair as required.
  • Modify dies to conform to engineering changes.
  • Work to blueprints, sketches, written and verbal instructions.
  • Set up and operate machines (drill press, lathe, milling machine, surface grinder id/od grinder, honing machine and cnc lathes and mills)
  • Handle confidential information on a regular basis.
  • Take on and complete any work that is assigned by the tool room Area/Shift leaders.

Job Requirements

  • Tool & die makers must be able to take a blueprint and create parts from start (raw material) to finish (tooling). 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Familiarization with Cam and G code programming.
  • Must have all basic tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators.
  • Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
  • Good basic math and algebra skills.
  • Ability to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required.
  • Ability to use computer and software as required.
  • Ability to work to blueprints and sketches.
