Growing Manufacturing plant in SE Tucson is seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Engineer.  As a demonstrated expert, you will create and implement concepts for improved performance of our manufacturing operations. You will provide leadership, guidance, and direction to ensure project timelines, specifications and costs are achieved.  You are an expert at assessing and implementing continuous improvement opportunities while driving to achieve performance objectives. 

 Pay: $57 per hour

Schedule: May be required to work any shift, including weekends as required

 POSITION OVERVIEW:As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, you are responsible for developing and operationalizing automated and semi-automated solutions to manufacturing processes as well as other initiatives to improve overall operational effectiveness.  Key expectations that you excel at are creativity in solving complex problems, project management, hands-on approach to implementing change and addressing immediate production issues, and creating a safe working environment where people deliver world class quality products on-time to our customers.  You also have a strong working knowledge and experience with current automation technology and have demonstrated results in lean manufacturing and advanced manufacturing methodologies.

The Manufacturing Engineer is a critical part of the Southpoint Assembly team to develop and improve equipment, processes, increase throughput, reduce DPPM throughout the plant, while improving safety to allow production to effectively meet production goals. 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage manufacturing engineering projects including automation, manufacturing processes, related systems, process improvement, plant layout and documentation
  • Conceptualize and implement dependable, robust, and efficient automated production equipment
  • Provide technical advice and troubleshoot complex processes and equipment
  • Provide technical support to production and manage improvement projects
  • Train other manufacturing engineers, technicians and maintenance staff
  • Justify and implement advanced, lean and efficient manufacturing methodologies
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support for new and existing products
  • Initiate equipment modifications to improve productivity and product quality
  • Work with outside vendors to coordinate the development and improvement of manufacturing equipment
  • Work closely with the maintenance department to improve machine reliability and reduce downtime
  • Work through the maintenance department on facilities issues
  • Have a good working knowledge of industry best practices with respect to manufacturing processes and New Product Development

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline (preferably in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical)
  • 5+ years background in advanced manufacturing systems or automation
  • Experience with continuous motion automated assembly
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience in support and improvement of automation equipment and production lines
  • Proven experience in setting up and maintaining high speed automated manufacturing equipment
  • Hands-on approach and ability to perform work on equipment
  • Project management skills to define and track engineering projects
  • Experience with PLCs, Vision systems and robot programming
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAE Engineering tools
  • Ability to work well with both internal and external resources
  • Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, DOE and process capability studies
  • Well organized, enthusiastic, and a strong work ethic

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced Engineering degree or MBA strongly desired
  • 5+ years of New Product Development support
  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • Direct hand-on experience with laser weld and ultrasonic welding processes
  • Experience with plastic injection molded components
