An automotive manufacturing supplier in Portland, MI is looking to add a 2nd Shift Lead Technician to their team! This individual will  promote teamwork and convey a genuine interest in supporting the lean production philosophy. In addition, provide input relative to continuously improving the overall production performance of the work cell which will require participating, scheduling and/or leading meetings including CI Kaizen events. You will be held accountable for knowing, understanding, and adhering to the Escalation Policy designed for this department.

Responsibilities of a Lead Technician:

  • Set-up, Operate, and Recover Fanuc Robot Automation, this position will also require teaching the robot positions, including pick and place as well as sequencing. 
  • Responsible to perform tool changes for Broach & Swage machines.  
  • Support and perform all quality inspections as outlined in the SOS
  • Lead and support all training efforts especially as it pertains to the Ford Idler and Pitman Arm Automated Machining Cells.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and/or hydraulic concerns as training and appropriate education continues.
  • Be key in assuring that all functions of these positions are adhered to as it pertains to Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
  • Work in conjunction with supervisors to maintain standards of production. 
  • Develop and/or execute 24-hour manufacturing schedule to meet customer requirements
  • Utilize 10in6 to manage and report daily production counts, downtime, and improvement opportunities.  This includes monitoring that the correct data is input into the system. 
  • Willing to work overtime
  • Immediate recognition and containment of defective materials is required. This position requires the ability to make “Informed Decisions
  • Other responsibilities as deemed necessary 

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • 3 years of manufacturing experience 
  • Certified Robot Operator - Preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate, plan, organize and problem solve.
  • Complete understanding of the technical working of the automation, Fanuc Robots
  • Ability to operate hand gauges per work instructions/blueprints
  • Ability to read, comprehend work instructions/inspection requirements and document the same at required frequencies.
  • Possess Advanced computer skills required to perform routine tasks
