General Description:

The Product Structure Specialist is responsible for the control and execution process of product structure that pertain to the Bill of Materials and Routers. Ensures all system input for BOM’s and Routers requirements for filling, packaging, and palletizing of products are to be processed accurately and in a timely manner providing Production and Production Control the information required to maintain their schedules to meet company and customer specifications.

Specific Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Promotes a safe working environment and adheres to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, company safety rules, Common Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) at all times.
  • Analyze work force utilization, line layout, and operational data to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Review customer requirements and specifications for adherence and compliance to Routers.
  • Enter and maintain QAD Routers.
  • Create and manage Routing Instructions for all finished goods.
  • Create pallet patterns using Cape Pack Palletization Software.
  • Get Routers approved in a timely manner.
  • Monitor first production runs for adherence to Routers- work proactively to ensure information is current.
  • Interface with Engineering to seek Router alternatives for scheduling purposes to ensure most efficient lines are used for production.
  • Establish a link between the BOM/ECN and routing process to ensure proper changes occur accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Oversee coordinator position and manage the BOM item status changes…. D, C, N, A.
  • Edit item master as required.
  • Monitor Item Check Utilities in QAD. 
  • Keep orderly files for each finished good item including emails, fill weight verifications, customer specifications, BOM’s, and Routers.

    Qualifications:

    • High school education or equivalent.
    • College Degree in relatable field.
    • Must have a minimum of 5-year experience in Product Structure preferably in cosmetic process manufacturing or an FDA regulated industry.
    • Thorough understanding and use of QAD
    • Full knowledge of Bill of Lading’s (BOM’s), Engineering Change Notices (ECN), routers, and obsolete documentation.
    • Full knowledge of working with and troubleshooting Product Structure procedures.
    • Good time-management skills
    • Good English communications skills: speaking, reading, and writing.
    • Advanced PC Knowledge i.e. MRP, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required
    • Strong skills in mathematics; adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and percentages
    • Flexibility to work long hours during peak season or special schedules as needed to satisfying job requirements.
    • Must be able to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area. Maintains housekeeping in conformance with, Common Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
    • Ability to multi-task and follow through on project assignments
    • Ability to quickly remedy procedural problems
    • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
