We have direct hire positions open for CNC Lathe Set-up Operators in Milpitas, CA at a machine shop that specializes in precision components for the semiconductor, medical, automotive, and aerospace industries. 1st and 2nd shift positions are available! 

Help set up the CNC lathe machines that make specific parts, load drills, cutting tools, etc., and learn new skills on the job. 

Be on our client’s payroll on Day 1 with this DIRECT HIRE opportunity! 

Pay and Schedule Information:

1st shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

  • Pay rate: $25-$30/hour DOE 

2nd shift: 3:15 pm – 11:45 pm

  • Pay rate: $25-$30/hour DOE 

Job Duties of the CNC Lathe Set-up Operator:

  • Remove previous fixtures, tooling, and return to appropriated place
  • Review job travelers previous operation to ensure it’s been signed off and raw material size are to specification
  • Load all tooling into machine and entered in for each tools offset (Tools crib will provide all tools offsets)
  • Adjust coolant holes to tools
  • Review blueprint in traveler for product specifications, such as dimensions tolerance, and set up book sheets
  • Verify that fixtures/jaws meet Kamet Fixture Blueprint specification and are secured to machine
  • Secure parts with set up book instructions using clamps, wrenches, and torque wrenches
  • Observes operation of machine
  • Verify conformance of machined work pieces to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers



Job Requirements

Job Requirements of the CNC Lathe Set-up Operator:

  • Have 2 years of experience as a CNC Lathe Set-up Operator
  • Be familiar with blueprints and set up machines from reading the blueprint
  • Ability to use measuring instruments, such as fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers
  • Proficient in GD&T
  • Be able to lift up to 70 pounds
