Description

An established and growing local warehouse is hiring an experienced truck driver!

Monday - Friday: 8am-5pm

Requirements (per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR))

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
  • Can by reason of experience, training, or both, safely operate the type of motor vehicle he/she drives.
  • Must comply to driving hours allowed and keep log books updated.
  • Has a currently valid commercial motor vehicle operator’s license issued only from one state or jurisdiction.
  • Has successfully completed a driver’s road test and has presented an operator’s license or a certificate of road test.
  • Can, by reason of experience, training, or both, determine whether the cargo he transports has been properly loaded, distributed, and secured in or on the motor vehicle he/she drives.
  • Is familiar with methods and procedures for securing cargo in or on the motor vehicle he/she drives.
  • Must participate in a DOT random alcohol and drug-testing program.
  • The driver must be fully qualified physically to drive a motor vehicle and must have a medical certificate to make certain he/she does not have any physical or mental conditions that could seriously affect his or her ability to control or operate a motor vehicle safely under all conditions.

Also:

  • No recent moving or driving violations.

Responsibilities

  • Transport product over land to retail centers (day and overnight runs)
  • Inspect vehicles daily for mechanical and safety issues and find resolution if needed.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
  • Maneuver trucks into unloading positions and unload product.
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations.
  • Occasionally, work various jobs in the warehouse as needed and requested by supervisor.

Skills

  • Proven work experience as a truck driver.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, breakdowns, customers, etc)
  • Be able to present yourself in a professional manner at all times and be courteous to the customer. Good personal hygiene is mandatory.
