ResourceMFG has a great opportunity for a Buyer/ Planner in Chatsworth, CA for a metal fabrication company that manufactures metal storage products. Company will be moving to Simi Valley by the end of May.

Hours: 8:00pm – 5:00pm

Pay: $70K - $80K

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Job Summary:

Performs various purchasing assignments of moderate complexity to procure equipment, parts and supplies necessary for the operation of the organization.  Reviews proposals, negotiates prices and selects and recommends suppliers. Verifies delivery dates, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.  Develops solutions to problems of moderate scope and complexity.  Makes practical application of customary practices, procedures, or techniques.  Interfaces with suppliers, immediate supervisor, and other personnel within the company.  Work is reviewed in process for adherence to instructions, soundness of judgment and conclusions.

Duties:

• Independently analyzes demand, decides quantity to buy and negotiates purchases of inventory materials up to $25k per MRP.
• Places POs for inventory and non-inventory items and follows up as required to assure an adequate material supply.
• Assures an uninterrupted supply of material while maximizing inventory turns.
• Resolves quality and delivery problems.
• Sources new items with new and existing suppliers.
• Identifies potential suppliers and qualify as required.
• Identifies cost reduction opportunities through competitive bidding, negotiation, and design changes. Implements as feasible.
• Evaluates suppliers and provides feedback to improve performance, especially in the areas of lead time, on-time delivery, delivered cost, terms, and quality.
• Develops and maintains long term relationships with key suppliers such that we are viewed as an excellent customer worthy of preferential treatment.
• Develops a sense of part ownership that includes concern for inventory accuracy and inventory obsolescence and a feel for potential problems.
• Conducts moderately difficult analytical studies and make recommendations from them.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

• BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
• Three (3) years relevant work experience using MRP applications.
• NAPM/APICS certification preferred.
• Capable of managing company-wide key supplier relationships.
• Capable of leading company-wide commodity responsibility.
• Knowledge of production and procurement procedures.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local procurement laws and regulations.
• Word processing and spreadsheet application (Microsoft Office preferred).
